Creatine supplements

Is anyone taking Creatine to address fatigue (or other) issues? If so, which one and what dosage? Any ill effects?

A health and wellness recently surprised me by telling me her grandfather had PMR and was I aware that PMR was caused by a virus. Has anyone else heard this or know of some related research ?

There's a lot out there - you can start here: https://www.niams.nih.gov/health-topics/polymyalgia-rheumatica-giant-cell-arteritis/diagnosis-treatment-and-steps-to-take

My take is that PMR is often triggered by a virus or a virus-type vaccine, judging from the number of folks that got PMR after Covid or a Covid vaccine. Having a pre-existing auto-immune disease (I had psoriasis) is also a contributor.

It's reasonably well documented in the research literature that the Flu vaccine can be a trigger for PMR for people have a predisposition to develop PMR e.g. Northern European genes.

I am a member of Consumer Labs, an independent organization that tests all kinds of supplements etc. their top pick for creatine is from Bulk Supplements.com. it also said it mixing it with warm water instead of cold, it dissolves better. I'm thinking if taking it not that much for the muscle side but some research said it could help with better cognition. Most of the creatine is found in meat so vegans should consider that. I think I may try 2 GM a day to start.

@wcs
Viruses can trigger other health issues. It is believed that PMR can be triggered by a virus. I had covid last June, then went hard into vertigo for two months and then into PMR. I can't prove it but I believe covid was the trigger.

@dougschiffman I just made a post this morning about Creatine! What a coincidence. I LOVE IT. I picked it up on Amazon for $8. Creatine Monohydrate by Dorado. It dissolves completely in my morning coffee and is flavorless. I bought it to help with my deteriorating muscle mass. But I also have lifelong edema and neuropathies now. I stepped out of bed the next morning after taking it and stood on solid ground! No spongy feet! My neuropathy is better too! I'd suggest just buying it for the low cost and see how ya feel. As long as your kidneys are working normally, I don't think there is any risk. I also suffer from IBS and IC, and it didn't give me any gastrointestinal issues or irritate my uretha/bladder. I have fatigue, but I am dealing with anemia issues right now. So it didn't do anything for my fatigue. But definitely for my nerve sheathes and neuropathy, and edema. It says one of the side effects IS edema but I am not seeing it. My muscles need to hold some water because I get dehydrated too fast. I think its great!
