Diagnosed with right side subarachnoid hemorrhage

Posted by ourlife2017 @ourlife2017, Jun 21, 2017

I've been in Richmond University Hospital for 21 days, with only test still being done. The pain is migraine headaches to the thousand. And I feel at this time, just like a lab rat. Now what's causing the pain in my head is the high blood pressure, hypertension. I never had high blood pressure in my life. Hospital wants to do "lumbar puncture" to see if that's causing my high blood pressure. I'm very afraid and don't know if I should go through with this procedure..?

He is day 2 at BJC NeuroICU

Did he have a craniotomy or any operation? I had a subarachnoid hemorrhage one year ago and I am definitely better after two surgeries but it’s definitely a long road of recovery

Hello @lbg555

I see this is your first post on Connect - welcome! I appreciate you joining this discussion and sharing something about your experience. You mention that the road to recovery is a long one - if you are comfortable sharing more can you tell us more about the surgeries and the timeline for your recovery?

I am so happy that you joined this discussion and I look forward to hearing from you again. At Connect, we all learn from each other.

This is day three. They were unable to locate where the bleeding came from as there was too much blood. Right now they are trying to manage his pain and nausea (not really working) they hope to go back in to find the source in a few days. I appreciate any information and support as much is needed. He is currently at BJC in stl neuro ICU

It has been three years last May that my accident and TBI happened. I continue to have difficult experiences most every day. Still have exaggerated startle responses where my hands fly up and flutter at loud noises, braking suddenly in traffic, a car beginning to pull out or other close calls in traffic. Often I am terrified in heavy traffic. Once when driving on a crowded freeway it began to rain heavily with wind. I was so terrified that I had to exit.
Recently I attended a meeting in a room that had a full ceiling bank of fluorescent lighting and no sound absorbing surfaces. People were talking all at once. My head felt like it swelled up, my ears rang and I got very dizzy and shaky. I pretended I had another place to be and left. This type of thing happens all the time.
Another issue is holding onto negative emotional issues, especially at night and then I cannot sleep.
And of course, fatigue, always fatigue.
Exercise always helps. Mental games help. Music does too. Talking with others. Just keep going.
