Is the powder or the spray better for skin irritation?

When you use the powder for irritation doesn’t the barrier wipe take it off?

I need help!!
I have a prolapsing stoma and it’s large!
The doctor said to just push it back in but that doesn’t really work very well. Makes it extremely hard when trying to put a new bag on. And it is sometimes painful.
Does anyone have any suggestions they could share with me that has worked for them?
I’m desperate!

Thank you. Right now I’m using the SenSura Milo, one piece EaseClose WIDE outlet (what does the wide outlet mean?)
I’m going to look at other samples

@pidge32 they used to have a narrower outlet... Not sure they do anymore.

I haven’t been in touch with a WOCN as i wasn’t aware they were available to me but I found one not to far away I’m going to use.
Thanks to everyone who brought this to my attention.

@pidge32 I'm glad you found a WOCN near you!

It would probably be a good idea to make a list of the questions you have before you go. You've mentioned irritation, prolapse, leaks, and had questions about other brands of appliances.

A WOCN should be able to evaluate all of these things, and help you with setting up ordering, if you don't have that already.

You should go to the appointment with a change of your current supplies, even though they might try something else on you.

Have you been able to make an appointment?

We spent quite a bit of time on the phone with her. She was so helpful and knowledgeable.
She informed me I had a Loop Ostomy! No one, not even the doctor told me that!
She made some great recommendations and is sending me some samples that she felt we may want to check out.
I can’t believe I hadn’t been told about the availability of a WOCN before. Although to be honest they may have a I didn’t remember.

@pidge32 I'm so glad that helped you!

It's not uncommon to forget things right after surgery!

Usually loop ostomies are done when that is a plan for reconnection. It's a *much* easier surgery. They detached the stoma from the abdominal wall, sew the ends together and kinda pop it back in ( I'm not a surgeon, but I had two reconnections that's how it was described to me). Do you still have your colon (or a substantial amount of it)? Can you be reconnected?

The doctor said they can’t reattach it because I am also a kidney transplant recipient and with my poor immune system they feel it wouldn’t take.
When I had the surgery for the ostomy the beginning of November I had major problems after. Infection, pneumonia etc. for a few days my family was concerned that I was going to pull through I was so sick. I spent many days in the hospital and don’t believe I could go through it again any.

@pidge32 that sounds like a lot. I hope the WOCN can help you find solutions that work for you!
