You need to see a neurologist asap... much luck sent.. I have headaches daily and mine put me on propranolol to see if it will help. I just started them a few weeks ago. Might need higher dose. You need professional help though...

1 ReactionI was diagnosed with Functional (Neurological) Movement Disorder Fifteen months ago after taking one Sertraline (SSRI) tablet. Overnight I had uncontrolled movements, extreme startle response and stuttering. I take 300 mg Gabapentin three times a day which for the most part keeps it under control. Obviously, this may not have happened to you, but it's something to think about. Perhaps you had a similar triggering event. I found that just knowing what was causing the movements and stuttering helped me mentally. I hope you find an answer to your problem.

2 Reactions@wilmslow I take 1 300 mg. at night for 10 years and i don't think it does much for me.My stuttering, mouth twitching, head burning goes and comes during the day. There is no telling when its coming.
Perhaps you might need to be taking Gabapentin during the day when you are having the stuttering, twitching etc... The half-life of gabapentin is 5 to 7 hours so by the time you wake up, half its strength has been expended.

2 Reactions@wilmslow I am gonna try it right now.It might just be the answer
That's something your neurologist needs to know. It could be seizure damage or medication. I see a speech therapist to help with mine.

2 ReactionsI tried speech therapy, and though it might perhaps be helpful to others, for me it was not useful. In my case stuttering doesn't happen all the time so the suggested coping strategies were not particularly helpful. I was 78 when it first happened, so it has not been a lifelong problem.
