Its not all the time and i stutter bad on and off.It started about a year ago and is getting a little worse daily it seams. Is it seizures or something else?

I was diagnosed with Functional Movement Disorder and was prescribed Gabapentin. I take 300mg three times a day, and that allows me to have a fairly normal life. I still sometimes stutter when I get stressed, but that happends rarely these days. I also still have a startle respose to unexpected sounds or sometimes movement, but again it does not happen all the time.

@wilmslow Mine comes and goes as well. But I also notice that if i'm stressed, or frustrated, it's definitely worse.

Hi,

I do understand it can get stressed and frustrated. With our condition, it’s inevitable we will feel this way now and then.

When I was first diagnosed with this condition, no one knew what to expect including me. I was going to start popping pills like candies no doubt, and with side effects. I would become different, a new yet same Louis.

I realized if I were to get stressed and frustrated, others around would become the same because they did not know how to handle. It became a vicious cycle.

Then, I told myself no matter what I would still treat others the same way I did before. Crack few silly jokes. Grin. Smile. Put them at ease. When they become relaxed, I would become more so as well. Nowadays, I will talk less and use my face to do most of the talking. Raising of eyebrows. Nodding of head. The opposite party will do more of the talking and I simply listen more of that. No need to be stressed or frustrated. You can still be the same old you inside, only expressing it in a different manner. Don’t be disheartened. I told myself no way am I going to let those side effects totally take over my life. Physically sure no doubt, but mentally no.

Hope I make sense.

Cheers,
Louis

Hi, those things which I could no longer do I just leave it for others to do them while focusing on things which I can and still needed to be done. Life will feel more positive this way.

This section is new to me. I have been at this for over 450 days to get an answer. The last office I went to was Neurosurgery. I had to see the ARNP before I could get an appt. to see the Neurosurgeon. I have been dealing with head pressure since Feb. 17th 2025. On that day I had head pressure and blurry vision and it lasted about 2-3 minutes. I couldn't time it because I had blurry vision. When I saw the ARNP she asked me if I thought my problems were from my neck. I had a scan and it shows a lot of stuff. I thought it was. She told me that she didn't see anything that would make her think I needed surgery. She also said she would talk to the Neurosurgeon to see what he thought. While he did look at my MRI he also look at the CT I had of my brain. I got a call this past week from a nurse and she told me that the Neurosurgeon saw something in my Brain that appeared abnormal. in the Saggital and Transverse sinuses of my brain. She told me that he wants me to get an MRA which will look at the arteries and an MRV which will look at the veins. Those will be with and without contrast. I am going on Monday the 18th and I have to be there at 6:30am. I am asking if anyone out there has had any issues like this. I have had head pressure more than anything. There are so many things I could say. This is worse than I ever expected. I don't know if anyone out there has had head pressure and no answers. After the test I plan on going to the Doctors office and ask how soon he will see me. I am tired of playing the waiting game especially since now it could be in my brain. @rnlorena

We tend to overthink things which may not be the case. I thought the light brown patch below my chin must be something serious, but in the end it turned out to be eczema.

During a period of time, I felt something like what you experienced. It happened out of the blue, could happen anytime and anywhere. Since my neurologist had already ruled out the possibility of me having surgery and to be frank I couldn’t understand many of the medical terms except if I were to undergo surgery almost my entire brain would have to be cut away. My arteries/veins tend to be on the thin side (the clinic nurse always had issues administering IV). When I was standing, naturally the heart would have to pump extra hard to pump the blood up to my brain. I would start to sweat buckets if it’s an extremely hot afternoon. The brain would also feel uncomfortable, including having the pressure feeling, a little sort of breath and I would start seeing stars. I realized losing a few pounds of body weight did help. Thus, I’m controlling my diet a little. Unfortunately that will also mean limiting many food I love like fries. 😔

I’m keeping fingers crossed for you. Meanwhile, yeah don’t think too much till listening to what those people at the clinic has to say. No matter what, tell yourself it won’t be the end of the world.

Cheers,
Louis

Considering that the head has the highest perfusion of blood circulating in the body for one organ of its size. When infrared scanners look at people we often see that the head has the most heat escaping from it due to this fact.
