Liver test results and severe anxiety
After a trip to the ER 2 days ago and a follow up with my regular doctor yesterday it turns out I have severe anxiety and am starting meds today. But anyways this sure isnt helping my anxiety but yesterday I received a bunch of bloodwork and apparently I had some abnormal liver function and a slightly high glucose. I guess its 119 and supposed to be less than 106.
And my liver specs are ALT is 62, AST is 62 as well and bilirubin is 1.57. He wants them rechecked in 2 weeks and an ultrasound. Ok the recheck i understand but is the ultrasound a little excessive? Ill gladly do it im just trying to keep myself sane for the next 2 weeks because thats what freaked me out. It sent me into a panic attack so I got my actual numbers from my on line portal and did my own research to find that these numbers seem to fall in the mild elevation and keep an eye on it sections of the graph. Does this sounds the same to anyone else or are these numbers worse than they look or better. Is he just being overly cautious? He has a tendency to do that and im thankful for it but just trying to get through this recent panic attack.

Hi. Sorry about your anxiety. I have had a few panic attacks before over the years and no fun at all. On the ultrasound I think better safe than sorry. I have had bunches of those and not really a big deal. I have had high bilirubin before , higher than yours and it was not treated specifically but was rechecked and then it came down. Not a doctor but I bet you a couple Dr. Peppers you will be just fine. Hang in there (---:

Thank you my friend and best wishes to you as well. I done some independent research which I know we shouldn't do but we all do anyways lol. I never mentioned this because because I didnt feel it was relevant but due to my anxiety in the last week and a half ive barely ate. Somedays my only calories were applesauce and liquid. I've lost 18 pounds in a week and a half. I just read that a rapid unsafe weight loss can riase liver enzymes and is directly related to elevated bilirubin levels. Im not a doctor and I will keep my appointments but it has definitely been a relief to keep me calm until my appointment and new test.

2 Reactions@nlucas123 Hi. I just stopped by the site again today and saw your post. I think you have a good plan and your doctor will be very interested about your weight loss. I think you have every reason to feel everything is going to be fine. The 2 weeks may breeze by then you can have your good news. Have a great week !

1 ReactionGood morning from Canada.
I'm not a doctor. I'm not a nurse and I don't play one on TV but I've been down this road and around this bend many many times. High liver enzymes could be a myrade of issues. To be dietary it could be gallbladder. It could be the beginning onset of forms of arthritis or it could be a liver disease. But if this is your first notice and the numbers are elevated but not through the roof and chances are whatever you have is 100% treatable. I suffer from anxiety so I know where you're coming from. It's irrational you can't explain anything away. Try to stay calm until you have something confirmed by a doctor and then a specialist. Just watch your diet. Get exercise. Don't drink, don't smoke. Don't take illicit drugs. Just take care of yourself. You'll make it. You'll get through this with God's guidance. 💗

Consumption of processed foods are the main reason so many people are being diagnosed with fatty liver. In the USA, 1 in 4 people have a fatty liver. Check out the long list of artificial ingredients to confirm that its "processed". Many people are reaching for frozen dinners because they are too busy to cook or are too lazy.
Exactly, we have the same problem here in Canada as well
Thanks everyone for the positive vibes I'll be sure to post the results of this. I know how frustrating it is when you find a forum then you dont see the end result. Especially when your searching health problems.

Hi and thanks for reaching out. Yes I have started anxiety meds but unfortunately after 4 days I am discontinuing them at my own will. I was put on lexapro 10mg and I thought maybe since it was 4 days I could immediately quit but my doctor has informed me to spilt the pill and do 2 days of 5mg and if I like I can continue or quit.
@nlucas123 - yes, a taper is a good idea with most antianxiety or antidepressants. Did you have unpleasant side effects with the escitalopram (Lexapro)?
