ALPHA GAL 2026

2026 update; Just a few observations after officially living with Alpha Gal for 6 months now. Alpha Gal affects me in 2 ways gastrointestinal and severe facial itching.

I've discovered the hard way that cross contamination is a very real issue from restaurants especially from pizza places. I am able to eat cheese and dairy products with no reaction. However, Cheese pizza can be contaminated in the oven because of pepperoni cooking in the same oven that may splatter. Any restaurant probably has meat products or other ingredients that may come into contact with your food. Also, using the same tools to slice the pizza. I recently had a reaction after eating a cheese pizza from a restaurant. Also handling beef and pork dog treats may get you too. I recently had an issue with a food ingredient; gum which can be animal or plant based,it was in restaurant Chicken noodle soup.

I've had to switch all my personal care products to Vegan. I was living with severe facial itching at night for years until my wife and daughter pointed out that my personal care products may be the issue. And it was! The good news in there are tons of Vegan products out there. Alpha Gal Information in a fantastic source of information.
Personal care products that I have found that worked for me, Billie shaving gel and body wash, Native shampoo and conditioner Arm & Hammer Complete Care Tooth paste.

There are vegan multivitamins (DEVA) out there. Also be careful of Statins and other medications . The best OTC product I've found to ease the reactions is ALLEGRA ALLERGY 180mg. Hopefully this helps.

I have had AGS for 19 years now. I agree with everything you are saying. Other things to watch out for is Carrageenan. It’s in a lot of chicken and Turkey lunch meat. Always check the magnesium stearate is plant based. I use Love Beauty and Planet shampoo and body wash and Hello toothpaste. All are vegan.
Welcome to the journey of a lifetime.
