Psoriasis- Desperate!
I have had psoriasis for about a year. It started on my legs and is creeping up so that one tube of steroidal cream is good for about three applications and it is expensive! I use pine tar soap and I take vitamins D, K, Calcium, Magnesium and zinc. I do not eat gluten or dairy. I use clobetasol and tacrolimus. And....it just doesnt get better. I just had covid during which time it got way worse. I simply do not know what else to do so I am asking you all- who has had good luck on a biologic? I have been scared to try it cause I dont want to lower my immune strength but I am desperate. Can you let me now. Thank you!

4 ReactionsI've gone natural, herbal with Eczerill. Anytime it rears it's ugly head again, on goes the Eczerill. Being natural, it isn't instant, but keep applying and the results for me have been great.

1 ReactionHave you tried any natural essential oils? I have found when I have a problem when my psoriasis decides to act up, using rosewater to clean it, then applying a combo of frankincense oil and jojoba oil as the carrier to the effected area really helps.

1 Reaction@kidobutai yes, eight 2.5mg. tablets of Methotrexate taken together, one day a week, then one Folic Acid (I think 5mg. - your doctor would know) once a day for the next six days. It is very important to take the Folic Acid when on Methotrexate. I am not sure what the Folic Acid does, but your doctor or pharmacist would know.
Be aware that while Methotrexate with Folic Acid worked for me, it may not, with you as everyone’s body reacts differently to any medication. You won’t see results until six or eight weeks after starting on this medication.

2 ReactionsFairly big article in the Mail on Sunday today saying there is a huge link between psoriasis and carrying excess weight and that all overweight people with psoriasis should be told that their best chance of stopping the disease is to lose the weight.
The GLP injection appear very useful too.

Folic acid is given with methotrexate to reduce side effects without significantly reducing the drug’s therapeutic effect.
Methotrexate inhibits folate pathways → needed for DNA and cell repair.
This can cause folate deficiency–like side effects, such as:
mouth sores (stomatitis)
nausea
fatigue
liver enzyme elevation
low blood counts
Folic acid is taken with methotrexate to replace the folate that MTX blocks, thereby reducing toxicity while maintaining treatment effectiveness.

2 ReactionsHave you seen a rheumatologist? I had severe psoriasis and was given prednisone. Within a few days, it miraculously went away.
@helenkstockhorst whenever I take prednisone for my copd my psoriasis will get remarkably better however my psoriasis comes back. My copd dose is more than the taper down dose. Did your psoriasis return?
caroledge: psoriasis is a negative in my life. I’m hoping you have a solution or suggestions how to live with it. I have taken Otezla 2x day for 4 years plus clobetatol .05% applied 2x day to assorted psoriasis areas of skin. No matter the psoriasis flares for no known reason to: Large areas as well as small areas appearing on arms, legs, torso, back. Huge plaques as well as smaller ones grow abundantly; then they seem to reduce in size for unknown cause.
I will appreciate all help you can suggest. My internal med doc does not seem to know what else I can do.
Help! dbamos1945
I do not think mine was as severe as what you describe but photo therapy has helped me a lot.
