Dealing with Sciatica pain

Posted by junebug15 @junebug15, May 1, 2017

Am dealing with pain on my left side radiating down my leg with numbness and tingling, diagnosed as sciatica. MRI showed two bulging discs and spinal stenosis. Ironically, I question whether the sciatica is from the above, but may involve my piriformis muscle. I had this problem in 2009 and my neurologist injected a steroid into the prirformis and I had relief for all of this time. After taking steroids with no relief I asked for a shot in the piriformis (rather than an epidural) and this has helped a little. Am due for another shot soon. I am now also having severe muscle cramping in my groin and thigh upon standing and walking, which is very painful. Would appreciate anyone's input. I am going to look into PT and ART (active release technique). Thanks for your input.

Does anyone else have debilitating "sciatica" - can only walk 15 min at a time rest of time in bed? Pain from lower right back, through right hamstring, outside of both calves and burning, knife-life pain in the bottom of both feet. I have progressed to this point over a 10 year period. Tried cortisone injections, accupuncture, dry needling, physical therapy, myofascial massage, TENS, chiropractor and now looking for supplements.

Consider a CBD high dose like 100mg capsule or stronger.

Hello, sciatica is a symptom that something is pushing on a nerve which gives the pain referred to as sciatica, now you have to find what will reduce this inflammation. Epidurals worked for me about 5 years then I was rear ended by a truck while waiting for a red light so finally had a fusion of lumbar 2,4,5. I know what folks say about fusions not helping but they do but you must abide instructions, like I have a limit of lifting only 18 pounds which is equivalent to a gallon of milk and so to make it simple I only buy half gallon jugs. Yes I have pain daily but know now that sometime I can get along with Tylenol plus muscle relaxer rather than using the ultram. the only person that can help you best is yourself. If you have a bad disc they now can replace it, I do not know your location but I do know of a super ortho surgeon in Minneapolis, Dr. Amir Mebod. I also smoke mJ and it helps to relax the body and help to tolerate pain. I am a Christian and will by prayer give you great help. Please keep in touch about your progress. Sent with love and concern Maxine

I am trying myofascial release massage. Has anyone had luck with or tried that?

I used to have a wonderful massage therapist and it made a world of difference. But since she tired, I have not a person I want to go back to. 😢

@bustrbrwn22, First, May I add my Connect welcome to you. I can feel your suffering and am so sorry you have this condition. Now for my good news. Myofascial Release MFR is my life, limb, and mind savior. I have an appointment every Thursday. Some restrictions are resolved In one session. Others are repetitive and require frequent attention. When you study the fascia and how it works in the body, you will see why it can tighten and be the cause of pain.

I have to leave now but I’ll be back. In the meantime you may receive some information from @jenniferhunter. You can also learn to do some MFR at home. Perhaps @rwinney can tell you more about how MFR helps her. The website is http://www.myofascialrelease.com. On YouTube, look for “Strolling under the skin”.

Be safe and protected.
Chris

Thank you Mr. John. Any experience with CBD for pain? Could be a good topic to see the quantity of people would help in those that it hasn’t. Also a problem side effects, especially with higher concentration Capsules like 100 MG to 300 MG per capsule.

@123zale I don't have any experience with CBD oil since I don't have any pain with my neuropathy only the numbness and CBD oil won't help numbness. There are a couple of discussions you might want to view here:
