Has anyone ever been on Duloxetine (Cymbalta) for nerve pain?
Has anyone ever been on Duloxetine (Cymbalta) for nerve pain? I've had 2 doctors push this on me. I know that the side effects can be terrible and getting off of it difficult as it requires titration. One time I remember taking one pill, and not liking the way it made me feel, so not taking any more, and still feeling the "weirdness" from it 2-3 days later. and that was only 30 mg Please pass along any experience or advice from this medication?

I didn't notice much of anything when I started duloxetine/cymbalta except less pain. Lyrica sent me to the ER with delirium and I was taking a low dose.

1 ReactionI am on it for myofascial chronic pain syndrome and it works well for me. I started with 30 mg and worked up to 60 after three weeks. It also helps my sleep (I take it nightly) and relieves some of the anxiety that accompanies chronic pain.

2 ReactionsI was prescribed Effexor for nerve pain. 37.5 mg which is a low dose. Helps with my mood and pain. Constipation is a problem which is true for so many meds that address pain. When things are really tough I take Meloxicam too. I don't feel wierd on Effexor.

I was put on Lyrica in 2013 450mg pd for chronic backpain and I have been reducing it for 9 months 25mg a time. Let me tell you the withdrawal symptoms are extremely difficult to endure. Not just the backpain increase but whole body pain and constant buzzing in my feet and very bad depression, anxiety, frustration, agitation and inability to relax. Also terrible cravings like nicotine but 10 times worse. I've completely stopped Tappentadol and found that easier. I spend half my days trying to stop the pain with voltaren gel and magnesium cream and back support belt and it's very difficult to stay positive but the brain fog is going away and my memory is improving and starting to feel like my old self again so this gives me the motivation to keep going and get off this medication. I don't know if it ever really helped my pain and the side effects were bad and I certainly wouldn't recommend it but I trusted that the pain specialist knew best, but he didn't. The other Opioids were way easier to stop.

1 ReactionDuloxetine helped me greatly with my fibromyalgia pain. But I can only tolerate it at the very lowest dose, otherwise I feel strange- like other folks have mentioned. I’m surprised at how well it works at the lowest dose. Good luck to you. It’s amazing how every body reacts in such unique ways.

2 ReactionsThe only thing I noticed with this d rug is that my mouth was dry. Didnt feel any difference in the pain. How long before anyone saw a difference, What is considered a low dose? I was on 60mg twice a day
I started taking it years back for depression. When I decided to wean off it, I suddenly realized it was making a big difference in my spinal pain - both neck and lumbar back. So I went back on it and have been for years.
Interestingly when I had real nerve specific pain in neck and also sciatic pain it did not alleviate that - but maybe that would have been even more noticeable if I hadn’t used duloxetine at all? Who knows that answer?

Interesting - years back I was tried on gabapentin/Neurontin for nerve pain and I quit on the third day for feeling like I was drunk/high - it was horrible and I refused to keep trying!

I weaned off it and had no problems for 2 years, and now reason I am on the blogs is horrible pain of right arm and shoulder x 3months , I go to a Dr this am we will see what he wants to try.
