2025 NTM and Bronchiectasis Patient Family Conference You Tube.
I posted that as soon as I got the video for the 2025 NJH NTM BE Conference that I would post. Sorry, having difficulty posting, but want to let all interested it is now up on You Tube. Just Google: 2025 NTM and Bronchiectasis Patient Family Conference and it should come up. Please note: The individual lecturers can be clicked on to the right.
Dr. Jennife Honda went over disinfection/sterilization techniques for MAC and MAB. I highly recommend listening to this segment of NTM in the environment. Her department at UT-Tyler tested antibacterial success in soaking in Dawn (which didn't kill any MAB), microwaveable bags, and bottle sterilizers, along with environmental NTM info. Also, she mentioned that they will be setting up an environmental NTM testing lab in order to create a data base, so that we can send in samples from our homes to the lab and get home specific info-yay!

@vgvball I got confused when she said "reduces" NTM. But it sounds like she just meant reduce from overall environment. Another question I had, is 100% disinfection achieved in an Aerobika, since her study was using test tubes or some equivalent. That said, I did purchase a Bololo last week off of eBay (Amazon no longer has) and plan on using for my nebulizers. I will most likely periodically boil the Aerobika. I wouldn't be so anal about it if I had MAC but Dawn doesn't kill MABC. I also have a Raintree Under Sink Filter System for my tap water and run that into a LifeStraw pitcher for drinking water.
@scoop I rinse with ultrafiltered water and then boil. I also use the boiling water to purge any water stuck in the aeroclipse nebuliazer.
