Started Repatha - Side Effects
I had terrible side effects with statins (any statin, any dosage). For about 30 years my doctors have pushed statins and
I have resisted. Finally I agreed to Repatha. The first week I had zero side effects. With my second dose, 2 weeks in, i woke up and my joints and muscles hurt a LOT.
1. Does this side effect go away?
2. What do you know about the recent information that the Repatha trials underreporting deaths from cardiac events while taking Repatha.

You are in good company. It seems like we had the same cardiologist. Goodness. They went to medical school and they don’t know that some people have extreme side effects and that those side effects severely impair enjoyment of life. I let my cardiologist go and have an appointment with a new one next month. Honestly, I’m so tired of this whole thing. I got so sick and continued to get worse from taking those drugs so that I thought I would eventually die if I kept taking those drugs.
Prescribed for statin intolerance. Started in September 2025. The first few weeks no problems. But then terrible pain everywhere, back, stomoach, bowels. Spasm for 3 hours long, weakness in my legs, dizzy. I quit, and no more pain.

2 Reactions@ss52 I’m so sorry you went through that. It makes me wonder what it is doing to bodies that don’t have those overt side effects. If it’s causing such extreme illness to people like you and I, what is it actually doing to everyone else even when they don’t have side effects? If I ingest poison but don’t get as sick as someone else, isn’t it still damaging me?
@wgr123 I had frequent falls on Repatha. It took a while to figure out the cause of my falls, but once the half-life period of detox from the drug was past, the problem was gone completely for me. I found the half life prediction extremely accurate. I had marked the last date Repatha could be in my body on a calendar and looked forward to freedom day (full detox). Never any problem at all after that date.

2 Reactions@llynch17056 GOOD POINT! And I wonder whether my body actually needs the LDL and lowering the reading causes the horrible side effects?. Maybe some bodies do and others don’t need high LDL. Maybe it is genetic, like Northern tribes need more, but their numbers get averaged with other people’s numbers and we have results for an average body, not a real body in the real world.
Speculation is not medicine, but I do it anyway.

1 Reaction@tatiana987 exactly my thoughts. I’ve read a lot of studies that indicate that numbers aren’t the whole answer. The doctors get a number and put you on statins. All that matters is a number, but it’s more complex than that. Some people live normal healthy long lives with a higher number, it’s normal for them. I don’t think you can live a healthy life sitting in a recliner eating fast food and obese with high numbers. I just don’t think the number tells the whole story. I’m not talking statins or Repatha again. I’m ok if I die.
@tatiana987 that doesn’t surprise me at all.
Update to this post, I tried and could not tolerate Repatha either so I’m on supplements and hoping for the best.
