Anyone been prescribed Ohtuvayre (new med)? Your experience?
Has anyone been prescribed the new COPD medication by their treatment team....Ohtuvayre? Just wondering if it now active, how it is effecting patients and how well it does/doesn't work

Caused rash and itching on chest. Decreased dose to once a day. Physician follow up tomorrow.
My experience was negative, I wrote about this a couple months ago. I found my breathing got much worse, I didn't feel well and stopped after eight weeks. I use Stiolto Respimat for over four years and it's managed well without the side effects of Ohtuvayre. Some others who have tried the Ohtuvayre also had problems, I learned this via the Mayo site.

3 ReactionsNo. Have never felt any affect with any inhaler?
@fredandel
I exhale completely then trip the inhaler and breathe in as deep as I can. I can taste the medicine. I feel the difference between it and the Trelegy and my resting O2 levels are up about 4 points.
@stevelc I was on trelegy but didn’t work well for me so I was put on breztri it worked good then down the line it wasn’t so I was put on ohtuvayre and it was like a miracle drug I was breathing so much better then I don’t know what happened I was back to being out of breath after couple months, now waiting to try nucala it’s a once a month injection I’m praying it helps, hopefully the ohtuvayre helps you🙏
@suzyq61
It seems like a common thing with the Ohtuvare. My copay is $500/month until I reach $3400! Unless the manufacturer has a help program I doubt if I will ever start. I would much prefer a 1/month shot.

1 ReactionHello
I’ve been on Optuvatre for about 2 weeks now and I can say it’s making a difference in my breathing for the better. I want you to know I also use ipratopium/albuterol nebulizer as well but I space it out. The other medication I find very helpful is Combivent but it’s expensive and fortunately I don’t need it much with the Optuvayre. Good luck and I’ll comment again in a couple weeks. TJP

1 ReactionI was diagnosed with COPD 8 yrs ago. I use a variety of meds to control congestion, wheezing etc . My biggest issue in the past 2 yrs has been multiple exacerbations, approx 6-7 a year .Lots of congestion that eventually becomes too difficult to get off my chest. I was hospitalized in September & my pulmonologist suggested Ohtuvayre. It's a nebulizer medication used twice a day. I've been on it for about 4 months now & I have noticed improvement. The two issues are :
1. Congestion - I still get congested, but it's a lot easier to get it up so it doesn't get worse. It's making a big difference.
2. I feel I can actually take a full breath now. In the past I've felt that I couldn't get a real full breath , felt like it was 75% .
So far. I'm feeling like it's making a difference for me. I have not had an exacerbation in 4 months, no Prednisone, antibiotics etc.. so fingers crossed.
Hope this helps.
