@truthfinder - I moved your post here because I thought it would be the best way for you to connect with the most members on this site who are familiar with fatty liver who might weigh in on your not seeming to be followed or treated for the fatty liver found in your 2024 ultrasound.

Please meet, if you've not already, @mydogsbestfriend @goldendoodle @oliviab911 @jlharsh @rllh5403 and others who may have some thoughts on how their doctors have proceeded after fatty liver was identified on imaging for them or a loved one or about management of this condition in general.

What did your doctor recommend back in 2024 about addressing the fatty liver with diet and exercise? Were you given specifics or referred to exercise or nutrition specialists for consult?

@truthfinder I had non- alcoholic fatty liver disease. Mine progressed to cirrhosis. I had my first liver biopsy in 2018 that confirmed the scarring. I was added to the transplant list at Mayo Nov 2022 and received my liver transplant Oct 19, 2023. Do what the doctors tell you to do and keep a positive attitude. This too shall pass!

I was diagnosed with end stage liver disease - stage 4 cirrhosis in early Nov 2025. Still trying to wren my head around it and navigate my course. 😩

When did they discuss a transplant. I was just diagnosed with end stage liver disease - stage 4 cirrhosis in early Nov. 2025. I'm working on losing g weight and getting daily exercise. They also put me on a new med called Rezdiffra. They haven't said anything about a transplant and I don't see the specialist again until late May

I have had ultrasounds stating that i have NAFLD, gallbladder sludge, cysts on gallbladder and Kidneys. The last month and 1/2 ive had pain on my right side that is dull and achey but not bad enough to warrant a trip to hospital. My problems most likely stem from having Crohns disease along with Bile Acid Malabsorption. Ive just started taking digestive enzymes so hoping that may help. My doctor doesnt seem to concerned about NAFLD. Asked when i should, they told me not to. I hate when they dismiss your concerns and have to go on internet to find solutions for yourself.

@carroljeffries we started talking about transplant in early 2022. My Meld score got as high as 25. The way they calculate Meld score has changed so don’t use my number as a reference point. Dr Harnos is my saving angle. She worked hard to keep me on the list and ultimately to get me a new liver. I was 68 at the time of transplant and was in fair condition other wise. From my first biopsy it was 4 years before I made the list and then 11 months from then to getting a liver. We moved to Jax August 2023 to be closer to Mayo. It worked, we stayed until my 4 month checkup. Stay positive, it will happen!

Thank you. I don't know what my MEiD score is. I can't find it in my reports anywhere. I'm hoping with diet, exercuse, and losing weight I can stabilize my cirrhosis. Not sure I know what I'm talking about because it's only been 2 months but I've been reading everything. Some of the information is confusing but trying to read quality sources. It's just so scarey. I want to know if I have 1 yr, 2 yrs or more to live. I've been told it's not a death sentence like it once was. I don't know if mine was because I'm overweight, medication I took in the past, or because my thyroid and gall bladder have been removed making my liver work harder. I just don't know why my Dr doesn't seem to have an urgency about it like I do.

It is a MELD score. It is how they rate your disease as far how you take compared to other liver transplant patients. The range is 10 to 40 and it takes all factors into consideration. It is calculated from 5 of your bloodwork results. So if your score was say 36 you would be at the top of the list. If your number is 10 you would be low on the transplant list and maybe not even on the list. I think if you ask your Dr he will tell you your MELD score. That is only part of the picture. All things are considered.
