@nannybb did you need a ct scan before surgery how long between been diagnosed with typical carcinoid and surgery like how far apart did you have to wait I need another ct scan today
I had several CAT scans. I know I had one before they did the actual surgery, and then again afterwards because they were trying to determine why I am having ongoing pain. My first surgeon has not been adequately evaluating my problem with pain. That is why I sought out a second opinion. I probably will not be going back to the first doctor.
@jessie1990 Jess, did you finally get any sleep? Are the nurses and doctor aware of how anxious you are?
@nannybb doc came around told me the pros and cons and I'm literally bawling my eyes out I want to go home 😭 said its possible to get a heart attack not wake up from anastasia were you told all these to

1 Reaction@nannybb also told me it's typical carcinoid it's not aggressive but he will need to send off the remaining tumor and lymph nodes to check do I need treatments like chemo thought typical carcinoid don't need treatments like that
@jessie1990 Jess, they need to know as much as possible before they operate. There may be no change at all. They could be looking to determine if your pneumonia left any scaring on your lungs. I'm not a doctor in any way, but I would be looking at the fact they are trying to be thorough in every detail before they proceed. It's a good thing.
@jessie1990 Jess they will determine the next steps after they get a pathology report from what they obtain in surgery. If your tumor has remained stable from your last surgery, and they are just going in to make sure they get it all, I would not think you need chemical therapy afterwards. BUT, I am not a doctor. My new doctor is a NETs specialist, and he takes things in a less evasive manner than my first doctor. With my remaining three nodules, he is inclined to watch and wait...monitor them. Talk all of your worries over with your surgeon. After he gets to where he needs to in the operation, I'm sure he will be able to give you more information. Still praying Jess.

1 ReactionAlso Jess, a carcinoid tumor that is typical, is usually slow growing, if it is going to grow at all. My surgeon told me I was "lucky" it was this type of cancer. The fact that it is rare, many surgeons decide on different treatments. Keep telling yourself you are finally going to get the rest of the tumor out, and then ask all your questions of your doctor. You may be worrying about things that will turn out to be fine. Your waiting is over Jess. You are exactly where you need to be in the moment. 💕

1 Reaction@jessie1990 Jess, he is most likely telling you all of this to cover his bases. Any time anyone is put to sleep there are risks. I have been operated on more than 11 times. I'm obviously still here. Maybe he mentioned your heart because of its proximity to the tumor. But remember, they were in that location before, and you came out of it. I know it is difficult, but try not to worry until you have a reason to.
