@houston13 hi I received an appointment today I've to get Echocardiogram 3rd of December so thinking my own practice doctor has maybe contacted cardiologist, so will wait for that result ,just happy I'm not getting ignored and thanks again.
@komara That's great news, the EKG is a start and hopefully you will see a cardiologist this time, ask a lot of questions and if it is not a cardiologist, this is the moment to request to be seen by one as soon as possible and start monitoring your aneurysm regularly (you will also need to see a surgeon and that is one of the questions you should ask, I imagine it is one step at a time).
BTW I have spent a lot of time in your beautiful country, have many friends there, Edinburgh is one of my favorite cities in Europe.
Keep us in the loop, all the best to you!!!
Hi Blisske . The TAMBE was done at Christiana Care in Wilmington De.
It is described as a 1st in state procedure. What I don't know just yet is if it can be used for an aneurysm of the ascending
@francic
Probably not. Most TEVAR procedures are experimental only on the ascending aorta. Part of that is due to the movement of the ascending aorta in relation to the aortic root and aortic arch. The landing zones can't but a lot of torque on the landing zones, even if it works. I had a Bental procedure done during some other open heart procedures in Sep 2024. There is still a section between the dacron graft and arch of about 4.6 cm at this point. I was told emphatically by a congenital specialist cardiologist that EVAR is not an option if it needs addressed in the future. That means I could be looking at another open heart surgery in the future. The other issue is that its impossible tell what the thickness of my remaining ascending aorta is at this point.
Rhix ,Thank you for clarifying. Appreciate it

1 Reaction@houston13 I will,Scotland has so many beautiful isles ,so many beautiful places ,I also love Ireland my beautiful late mum was from Donegal spent lots years visiting as a child,and been going most years but never went last 2 years as keep having recurring pneumonia but hopefully next summer I can visit,where are you from is it warm where you are as Scotland is freezing lol .
@komara I live in Houston, Texas and it is very warm here (very hot and muggy in the summer). As many Texans I had a long career in the energy industry, and one of the manufacturing plants I managed is in Dunfermline, I spent many weeks of the year there and had the chance to see a lot of Scotland, have many friends. You get used to the weather, and when it is sunny, Scotland is just a gorgeous place. Didn’t have a chance to visit the isles but I will when I go back I also haven’t been to Ireland but it is on my list!!!
Stay well!!!
@houston13 wowh amazing Texas probably different way of life from ours in Scotland, I love Scotland and can get 4 seasons in the 1 day lol.i just can't handle the cold weather now never bothered me till few years ago,I'm really hoping to get away on holiday somewhere hot in the summer but il wait and see how my health is,you take care and all the best .
My ascending aortic aneurysm is 6.2 mm. I am in excellent health for a 75-year-old. I am hesitant about giving up my four-day-a-week tennis regimen for surgery and a hospital stay. My question is: with the necessary open-heart intervention, what are my chances of returning to playing tennis for another half dozen years? I am told that there will be artificial power to keep blood going to my brain. I am worried about cognitive decline.
