Medication for acid reflux/GERD
I’ve been struggling with acid reflux/GERD for a few years and my doctor has just suggested I take a PPI proton pump inhibitor (such as pantoprazole). He was previously reluctant agree to this, despite recommendation by the gastroenterologist I saw.
I’m sure there have been discussions here related to taking PPI’s with bronchiectasis and Mac but wonder what others have experienced related to this?

@kim270 It's definitely worth looking into.
I hope you'll find a solution!
@frankie160. In my experience, albuterol makes reflux worse. I stopped taking it, even though i neb 7%, it's fine. I have a hiatal hernia, albuterol is just a big no-no for me. I don't take anything for GERD. I try not to eat big meals. I eat 4 meals a day, high protein.
Best wishes of great health to all of us!

3 ReactionsI appear to also have silent GERD. One effect of it was to lose my voice by the end of the day. Went to an EET doctor and he prescribed 40 mg/twice daily of Famotidine. My voice came back strong again. My coughing when I would change positions at night stopped. Now I'm down to 20 mg/ day and so far so good.

2 ReactionsProtonix 40mg & Pepcid 20mg for GERD; Compound Rx nasal rinse for sinusitis; Allergy shots every 2 weeks to boost immunity; Albuteral, ipratropium and antibiotics for Bronchiectasis flares and to prevent further lung scaring from breast radiation. Started drinking herbal teas such as Mullein, lungwort, lemon-ginger, with manuka honey and daily capsule of tiger milk mushrooms about two months ago and am feeling better. Had to get my Oncologist's approval since I'm also on Anastrozole for 5 years. Hope this helps someone.

1 ReactionTo those who take esomeprazole or alike. Did the medication elevate your blood pressure? I am looking for the reason of my suddenly high BP. It’s esomeprazole or brinsupri. From my regular 110-120 suddenly yesterday it was 140. My GI answered that esomeprazole should not do it so I guess it’s brinsupri but NJH doctor never responded to my email. I will try calling today my ambassador there.
The meds didn't mess with my blood pressure but I was drinking too much licorice tea LOL. I really enjoyed it and I felt it helped but I had to cut it out. There's even a warning on the box.

1 Reaction@rashida Azithromycin. You know you get six and take two at start, then one a day. But with MAC it’s everyday for 18 months or double dosage every other day

2 Reactions@lilianna whenever I go to the doctor my blood pressure sky rockets because even if I don’t feel anxious apparently my body does react to the visit. It is possible it is neither medication. Try taking it at home and see what numbers show up. I definitely would not say it is the gerd med.
