Autoimmune hepatitis: Questions about treatment and transplant
I’m 34, I’ve diagnosed HIA 23 year ago. Also hashimoto, and Sörgen.
Now my liver is with cirrosis and my treatment base is prednisone + metfomyne + diuretics +rifaximina. I’m expecting a transplant but I’m so afraid about it.

1 ReactionHi. I just got diagnosed with my 5th autoimmune disease and have some questions. I had a liver biopsy 2 1/2 weeks ago after my liver enzymes started rising in February and spiked in March and slowly started coming back down. Still a little high. Ultrasound was normal. MRI/MRCP was normal. Liver biopsy ordered. Results just came back this week as Chronic Autoimmune Hepatitis. F 3/4. I am allergic to Steroids/Corticosteroids. (Causes steroid-induced psychosis). Is there anyone who is familiar with non-steroidal treatment options and their effectiveness? I have a referral that was sent in to a specialized Hepatologist four hours away. Gastroenterologist said it will probably take several months to get in as a new patient to Hepatologist. So, in the meantime, I will be untreated. How could my liver get this much damaged in only a few months? Any information or tips/tricks on non-steroidal treatment appreciated. Thanks in advance.
I try to be careful with my liver since I had hepatitis C for 20 years undiagnosed. I was recommended a supplement called “super thisilyn.” you asked a question about how this could happen so quickly and I can tell you from recent experience. I had gastroenteritis and my liver enzymes shut up through the roof so I went and bought a liver detox cleanse supplement that I used for a few days to hopefully bring that down the inflammation. The liver is an amazing organ as it can regenerate from sclerosis, if not too severe. I don’t know if you’ve looked at your diet to bring down your inflammation. Gluten is a biggie that should be avoided and fats and your sugars should be balanced. you might want to try a natural healing route and acupuncture if you haven’t thought about it. Also non-western medicines can be very helpful. The western medicines are very toxic to a delicate system.

1 Reaction@loriesco I am a severe celiac and have been on a strict gluten free diet since 2023. I also have MCAS, so I am on a low histamine diet for that.
I will look into acupuncture while waiting on hepatology appointment.
Thanks so much for your response.
