Has anyone used Trelegy?
I have been on Advair HFA for a long time, over 10 years. My COPD per tests today is stable, but I have wondered if I should switch to something different. I did not know the doctor I saw today but I had had a PFT test, shared my thoughts about being so long on Advair & she right off the bat suggested Trelogy. A once a day discus inhaler, bye bye to Advair & Incruse! Now that I have switched, I am anxious, primarily because I didn't get to discuss this with her. OR my doctor! I am going to try to contact him tomorrow but meanwhile would like to hear from anyone re Trelogy &/or Advair.

I used trelegy - 2nd day my shortness of breath was GONE! I’m 73 and have been inhalers my whole life since I was a toddler. I have to say this is the very first one that ever actually worked and improved my breathing. However, on about day 12, I started experiencing thrush on the roof of my mouth, with extreme painful sores and swelling, even though I practiced a rigid routine of rinsing my mouth and brushing my teeth as soon as I took my 1 puff daily.
I was so disappointed and had to discontinue. Hoping my pulmonologist will help me find something else in next weeks appointment.

1 Reaction@hazely Thank you so much for your reply! I don’t normally reach out, I am very much an introvert but I have gotten so depressed 😔 lately. I am dreading the holidays because I can hardly do anything, yes even making the bed is tough. I know my family just doesn’t understand and I get so tired of explaining or trying to anyway. I have gotten to the point of not wanting to see anyone. The doctors office is as far as I go. It’s just nice to know that someone actually does understand, so thank you. And yes, why oh why can’t they figure this out? Maybe they don’t want to after all these meds are very expensive. Thanks 🙏 for the prayers and I will do the same. 🤗

1 Reaction@foxhuff2 Oh yes, family, you are exactly right, they don't realize how serious this is, or how dibiltating it is, I live alone and my Son and his family are really the only family I have left, I love spending time with them, I have 2 Grandsons, pretty much grown up now, 16 & 20. My Daughter in law, just the other day mentioned me going down for Christmas, she doesn't realize how hard it is, even if my Son were to come get me it wouldn't do much good, because of my breathing, and I'm like you I don't want to go anywhere 😓 you are right, the price of meds are just ridiculous, it should be criminal 😤. Well, take care and I look forward to talking to you again. 🤗

2 Reactions@kmacky my pulmonologist gave me samples of Trelegy for long Covid cough...really bad kept me up nights...I noticed a difference day one!
My pulmonologist put a sticker on the samples.
Rinse, gargle with mouthwash, brush teeth after Trelegy dosage.
This process worked, and the antiseptic in the mouthwash, I think, makes a difference.
Good luck to you.

2 ReactionsI was on trelegy for years, I was just put on breztri. I keep having to go back on prednisone, which is causing me other issues. It's too soon to tell if it's going to help or if I will go back on trelegy
@srqqd Antiseptic mouthwashes kill the biofilm on teeth that protect tooth enamel, so not a good idea. A waterpick would work better.
I’ve been using Trelegy Ellipta 100mcg for several years. The “rescue” inhalers were not helpful at all.
Historically, excessive phlegm & coughing has not been an issue. I just stay short of breath with the least exertion, although, at rest, my oximeter reads 92-93 without supplemental oxygen. With the lease exertion, I have to have my M9 cylinder on 4liters/minute (wide open) just to walk 60’ to the car, then sit a minute until my heart rate goes down to 105 or thereabouts before I attempt to drive.
I’d like to know whether Trelegy Ellipta 200 mcg would provide any improvement.
@hazely I am very sorry to hear that you are alone. It must be very hard for you. I still have my husband, whom don’t get me wrong I am grateful but sometimes he makes it much harder by not understanding. I am not doing this on purpose although he does try and help out. My two girls are grown and I have 3 grown grandchildren. I was lucky enough to feel pretty good when they were small but not so much anymore. I miss that. How has the Trelegy been for you? It makes my heart pound and I don’t feel much of a difference with it. I wis they would find something to fix this. 😞I read somewhere that it can cause depression in some people. Great! Just what we need dealing with this. Yes, I know I should have taken care of my body better and I do feel guilty about that but it’s too late. I am sorry, I hate to sound so depressing! Have a great day, my hands are sore lol 😂🤗
