I had a Ct in December 2016,showed 3 nodules 6mm,5mm&4mm in right upper lobe! Last week I had a Ct bc of a different issue and ER Dr told me I had 1 nodule in my right upper lobe that was 8mm and subpleural and a tiny subleural nodule in my left lower lone and small scattered lymph nodes throughout the paratracheal region? What does this mean?Pulmononlogist called finally after a few weeks and finally radiology compared both Cts and was told I need Pet Scan which is next Tuesday. I feel frozen and numb! He said it was triangular in shape and something about right hiler? Gosh I can't even think. Advice please

Hi all, still coughing and cough medicine otc isn't doing much. I went to see Pulmonologist the other day and he put me on an antibiotic for ten days. I asked him if I should still do lung function test and he said it was the least of my problems? I'm not sure how to take that comment either but going with it. I was reading about lung aspiration and it scared me. Since my left vocal cord isn't moving is it just an opening that any food can go to my lung? Why would I still be coughing from mediastinoscopy and bronchoscopy done on May 12th? This is scary

Hi @pattymac - I like Linda's suggestion. Here is the link to Dr Amit Sood's website Resilient Living - http://stressfree.org/. He also has some great videos on his site that may be helpful to you. We all have you in our thoughts and prayers.

I'm not having any issues with swallowing at all. I started thinking about the space(I think there's one), that the non-working vocal has left and if every time I swallow does that go into my lung? And is that contributing to my cough or is cough just from the procedures and I'm worrying about it for nothing:)

@pattymac If the coughing is occurring when you drink or eat I can understand your concern about aspiration. However, this question might best be addressed by a doctor, give him a call.

By the way, there are "thickening" products (available at a drug store) that you can add to liquids to help them go down better if you do have swallowing problems. Best wishes to you for a worry-free day! Teresa

I went to Infectious Diseases Dr. yesterday and he has started me on a fungus med for several months and repeated blood work during time.I am starting to feel like a pin cushion.I am still coughing but not as much, its a deeper cough? He is thinking that I have Histoplasmosis? I haven't researched yet.I'm kind of afraid to but still will. I will come back and see later if any of you wonderful folks know anything about this or have any advice.I am so blessed to have you all on my side.I hope I can help someone else in the future.

Hi @pattymac, sounds like your doctor has you on a path to recovery. Histoplasmosis is a specific type of infection (my words, non medical person!). Mayo Clinic has some information on histoplasmosis that hopefully will make you feel a little better.

@pattymac I, too, appreciate the update. It sounds like you are making some progress towards a diagnosis, Patti. Please keep sharing with us as you try this new medicine and work towards feeling better. You say that you hope that you can help someone else in the future - however, I think you have helped many of us already. Your persistence in carrying on in spite of your fears and anxieties has really blessed me! I'm going to tag Katherine @katemn to this discussion - she seems to know everything about respiratory issues - it will be interesting to see what she might know about Histoplasmosis. Keep up the good work, Patti. By the way, did your doctor say when the effects of the new medicine might be noticed by you? Teresa
