I agree! I take 3 tipes of magnesium: Citrate, glicinate and malate. Definetely citrate for constipation.

@mercellort

I take magnesium citrate capsules occasionally for the relief of constipation. My suggestion is to start with the recommended dose.

In case you haven't already tried it, Miralax daily works for me. I've used it for 9-10 years. (There are generics available, so keep that in mind when it starts adding up). I occasionally have to skip a dose if my stool gets too lose, but that's rare.

If a stool is simply not moving at all, what is the best safest way to get results?

@michaelparenti I've had pretty good results with senna leaf tea. If that doesn't work PEG will definitely do the trick for me

For me an enema. 1 to 1/2 warm water or saline solution. Hope it helps

I take Trulance (prescription) daily and Miralax at night and one VSL3 probiotic daily..try not to eat fried foods or much dairy.. 2 plant based Vanilla Ensures daily and one Thomas multigrain English muffin (8 gr fiber) with plant butter.. I avoid sucralose if at all possible..drink as much water as you can stand.. I tried Amtiza and Linzess and neither one worked.. the Trulance has really helped ..I hope you get relief!!

Why do you try not to have sucralose? Does it make constipation worse?

@patsey13 OHHHH!! Yes it does!! It sent me to the hospital for such bad constipation... it was actually in Thomas WHEAT English muffins..it is a "good gut" bacteria killer..so it basically wrecks my gut microbe (or what ever it's called).. you have to really read labels..it's hidden in so many things.. Gatorade and Pediaite ..I use Kinderlight every night -small glass for hydration..prayers for you!!

Hi…I may try Trulance after my Linzess bottles are done. I have been taking Linzess for a few yrs….I don’t find much of a help with my IBS - C.
I am interested to know more about VSL 3 probiotic….what it does, how did you discover this supplement…safety…results..
😊

I completely understand - I’ve struggled with constipation most of my life, and for about 20 years I’ve relied on colonics because not emptying properly used to make me feel really unwell. More recently, I’ve found that focusing on gut balance really helps - things like prebiotics, digestive enzymes, and probiotics made a big difference for me. I also make sure to walk daily, stay hydrated, and take magnesium glycinate gummies. Everyone’s body is different, but finding the right combination has really helped me.
