Acid Reflux and its Symptoms: Are they chronic?

Posted by mwarenski @mwarenski, Feb 13, 2017

Does anyone have a variety of symptoms associated with Acid Reflux that are chronic? Such as chest pain, back pain, weird tastes, etc.? Please tell me your symptoms. A little worried here...thinking it may be something more serious.

Have you tried eating an apple? It helps my Reflux immediately.

Have you tried chewing gum? I have dry mouth and gum chewing seems to make it disappear. There's some kind of catalyst that occurs when you start chewing either food or in this case gum. If you're allowed to chew gum then try it, otherwise ask your doctor about this and maybe it could help.

What has been your experience since the procedure?

I never had acid reflux until I had surgery for a very large hiatal hernia. The doctor also did a fundoplication. Now I am on Nexium 40 mg. every day. I recently was told I have the hernia back. It either wasn't totally covered with mesh patch or part of the patch came off so I may need more surgery. I have been suffering since the first surgery with gastroparesis. I don't know what to do.

From the LINX? Wish I would have known about fruit intolerance before surgery. I was tested but it was negative. If I eat too much or the wrong kinds of food that cause gas it will put pressure on the device and it's very hard to belch, it can be very painful.. Was considering having it stretched or removed but costs too much.

I was diagnosed with Gastritis, Reactive gastropathy. on Endoscopy. I am OK in the morning but have pain in my stomach after lunch and dinner. Most medications and diet does not help to eliminate symptoms. In desperation I am going to Acupuncture now , had 15 sessions, but no permanent result yet.
Pain is worse at times , no matter how careful I am about my diet. Have taken PPI,s, Acid Relief 360, Vital Red , Zantac etc. Someone suggested DGL now , anyone has had any experience with DGL?
Thank you

Yes, did nothing! I've tried all the supplements and miracle cures. I'm the same way, breakfast of eggs is fine but after light lunch and dinner get bad gas.

I would encourage you to have your water checked. There are lots of sneaky bugs that can cause gastric upset.

Hi mwarenski, I have silent acid reflux. Didn't know I had it. It damaged my esophagus and have Barrett's esophagus. Found on endoscopy. Also have pain high on stomach between breasts and all way around to my back on right side. Gall bladder clear have diverticulosis colon polyps and duodenal ulcer which is healed. Being treated for Barrett's esophagus and gastritis with Prilosec 40 milligrams twice a day. I still get the pain constantly. I don't like to eat anything anymore. White rice eggs and applesauce last week or so are ok. Seems many people have the same problem. I'm not sure what the answer is.
