New Sleep Medication: Anyone taking Dayvigo (lemborexant)?
Is anyone taking Dayvigo? My psychiastrist is tapering me off valium and has given me Dayvigo instead. I have PTSD and Major Depressive Disorder and been on benzodiazipines for many, many years for anxiety and sleep. The Dayvigo is as addictive as benzos!

Has anyone else experienced itching while on Davago ive been on it going on 2 weeks and i have intence itching on my face sides back of my right arm and legs
Welcome @sleepyinca, I don't have any experience with Dayvigo but from what I've read you could be having an allergic reaction.
"A very serious allergic reaction to this drug is rare. However, get medical help right away if you notice any symptoms of a serious allergic reaction, including: rash, itching/swelling (especially of the face/tongue/throat), severe dizziness, trouble breathing. This is not a complete list of possible side effects."

Have you discussed the itching with your doctor?

1 ReactionI had the exact same reaction. As a last resort I tried Dayvigo and it works consistently for 4 hours, then I fall asleep again fairly easily. I only take half the low dose (5mg) and let it dissolve under my tongue. I fall asleep very quickly. Side effects are head aches but worth it to resolve my long time sleep problem.

1 ReactionI also think this sounds like an allergic reaction. When Prozac first came out I tried it, best antidepressant I've ever used. But I developed massive hives all over my body. For the next 20 years pharmacists wouldn't record Prozac as an allergy because they said I couldn't be allergic to it! Now they record it. You can be allergic to anything, pharmacists should know better.
I started Davigo 10mg 9 months ago. It helped me fall asleep, got about 4 hours sleep, then not so great. But the intense dreams in the latter part of the night, ie early morning, we're insane. Not scary, but very vivid and like being in a kooky movie. So I decreased the dose to 5mg, and this reduced the dreams significantly. Sleep was only so-so. I was considering going off it as it wasn't working as well, and it's expensive. Then, in June, about 7-8 months after starting it I became extremely depressed. The kind where you lay in bed wondering what's the point, no future. After a couple of weeks of this I suspected the Dayvigo may be causing this. It does alter neurotransmitters which affect mood. So I stopped it completely. I started feeling better in a few days, soon I was back to normal. I did find some studies that indicate this could happen but it's a fairly new drug, needs more studying.
Overall, I wasn't as impressed as I hoped to be. Ive finally settled on old-fashioned Zopiclone. I take 3.75mg every night, occasionally 5mg. It does leave me with some morning drowsiness but coffee helps that.
Hope this helps.

1 ReactionI tried it and went immediately into sleep paralysis. I couldn’t tell if I was sleeping or not. But couldn’t move my body for awhile. Very scary stuff. Stay away from it !
Hello all, I cannot find much information with this and was wondering if anyone had had any experience. I started taking Dayvigo about 2 weeks ago and 7 days in, while it does make me sleep very well I have extreme daytime anxiety which begins about 14h after the dose the night before (I can almost set my watch to it). Eventually it subsides but while it is happening I can sometimes not even leave my house, it's awful but it's not in the list of side effects especially for 14h after taking the tablet, sleeping etc. Has anyone else had this experience or knows someone that has?Thank you for your help.
Just some extra info, taking a xanax or a clonazepam during the anxiety attack does absolutely nothing to stop the shaking, jerky movements. So it must be originating from a part of the brain that benzos have no effect on

2 ReactionsHi, sorry for your troubles with this medication, I had a similar experience with another medication, it worked well but the aftermath was awful, I went from feeling relaxed and comfortable and later on I was shaking and anxious. I did some research and found that it contained codeine, a pain medication. I think that your sleep meds are not good for you and although I am not a medical professional your symptoms are indicative of a type of reaction that you shouldn’t have. I would suggest that you speak with your doctor and let them know what you’re experiencing, they can give you something else to use for a sleeping aid. Also when you’re taking benzodiazepines they can interfere with other things you take, I take them too and I know from experience that they can sometimes change the effects of other medications, I hope that you find a good solution for your problem.

3 Reactions@freidbs Here is a reference to drugs.com about the medications https://www.drugs.com/dayvigo.html
As @frouke mentioned, I would suggest contacting the prescribing doctor to let them know about the anxiety. Perhaps there is another medication you are taking, that is causing a bad side effect because you take them both. It doesn't matter if those meds are taken different times. They just might not be a good combination.
If your medications are filled by the same pharmacy, you could ask the pharmacist if there is any "red flag" warning that comes up for interactions for Davigo. Is this possible?
