Repatha side effects not believed

Posted by dinardoefd @dinardoefd, Jul 26 10:29am

Repatha for 16 months and results are amazing however, leg pain, calf pain, started 3-4 ago.
Sore, stiffness in thighs and calves.
I won't mind so much but my doctor insists it is NOT related to medication.
I have statin intolerance, my blood work with geno test shows this.
Why does my doctor not believe me when I say I'm having leg pain suddenly after no other apparent reason?
Am I crazy, am I wrong? 60yr old male with CAD, CAC score over 2k but no blockage all less then 70%, no chest pain.
We believe my 1 of 4 parathyroids, remove in 2001, caused calcium to enter blood was having very high serum calcium levels before being removed. Still have 3 parathyroids with not ill effects but damage has been done.
Can these side effect appear months later as mine have or I can it be something else?

Perhaps I can’t have a peer discussion with my Dr but I do see myself as an expert on how my own body feels.
I am intolerant of statins, Repatha and Nexletrol, which cause SOB, fatigue and weak legs. Not everyone is the same.

Why oh why can't they just tell us the truth, that all these drugs have side effects and try to deal with them and try to understand our struggles. I trust an honest person and will listen to reason and try to except the results instead of guessing about which drug is causing my pain. But to flat out deny side effects I'm having exist is just rude, and I think unprofessional.

Maybe we should get together and write a book about amazingly idiotic things medical workers have said to us. We could include the “thoughts” of the doctor who asked why his lesbian patient didn’t use birth control, as mentioned here.

And I got a message on mychart from a medical assistant who said, “If you have more questions, we will call you.” Right.

And my cardiologist who prescribed a blood thinner to me, when I asked whether the weeks of bleeding from a minor cut on my thumb, whether that bleeding were concerning he answered, “I’m not a thumb doctor. Ask your thumb doctor.”

I think we could write a great collection of spectacularly dumb statements.

I can imagine your saying, “I have a headache.” and the doc saying, “No you don’t.” Ha!

Yes, was first put on oral pills but could not tolerate those so went to Repatha. At first no side effects but now my legs kill me.

Just a question: Did you take a break to let your body flush out the oral pills before starting Repatha? You said you could not tolerate those.

Did you go back to your general practitioner and have a talk about your legs? What did he or she say?

I have been on Repatha for 5 years. I started with every side effect but only lasted 3 months. I take CoQ10…seems to help. I am also on Nexletol and just started once a week low dose Rosuvastatin. I am not sure I can help…but wishing you well.

I developed anemia, weak and SOB. I can’t say for sure that’s it’s the Nexletrol but the company that produces Nexletrol agrees that some people develop anemia. I stopped both Nexletrol and Repatha, had an infusion and my energy has returned. I’m still working on the cause.

He is my cardiologist and shakes his head when I mention side effects, he says there are no such reports of these side effects.
Perhaps my primary doctor could help?
I guess if it's going to save my life I need to just take it live with side effects.
Getting old sux!

I'm experiencing severe pain that began in the lower left side of my back and now has caused numbness in my left leg so bad it's difficult to stand or walk for more than 5-7 minutes, after just 4 injections.
