Has anyone used Trelegy?

Posted by guinivere @guinivere, Oct 24, 2024

I have been on Advair HFA for a long time, over 10 years. My COPD per tests today is stable, but I have wondered if I should switch to something different. I did not know the doctor I saw today but I had had a PFT test, shared my thoughts about being so long on Advair & she right off the bat suggested Trelogy. A once a day discus inhaler, bye bye to Advair & Incruse! Now that I have switched, I am anxious, primarily because I didn't get to discuss this with her. OR my doctor! I am going to try to contact him tomorrow but meanwhile would like to hear from anyone re Trelogy &/or Advair.

I generally am able to hold my breath for 10-15 seconds after taking trelegy. Even when I inadvertently cough when taking it, it still gives me enough benefit that I am able to function all day without any need for a rescue or other treatment.

I try hard not to cough when taking it but it happens a few times/month. I have to be very deliberate and mindful while taking it to be able to do it right and not cough.

I thought you were supposed to hold your breath for a maximum of 10 seconds before exhaling(?)

I think the Trelegy directions suggest holding one’s breath for three seconds, but I opted for 24 on my own, hoping to receive maximum benefit from it.
I spoke to the pulmonologist about it & he simply replied “Most people can’t hold their breath that long”. He neither embraced the practice nor warned against it.

I use a nebulizer with 2.5 mg of albuteral sulfate & .5 mg of iptapropium bromide beforehand. That takes about seven minutes &, hopefully, prepares my lung for maximum benefit from the Trelegy.

I do the same thing. The staff at Pulmonary Rehab suggested this and I think it helps.

Yes… I’ve been on both Trelogy and Breztri
I like both. Trelogy is one puff a day and Breztri is twice a day
I like both.

I switched my hubby to Trellagy as he was on Anora for years. He cant walk from our bedroom to bathroom without being out of breath. He seems to be doing better. He also has altimzers so life is rough right now. I don't understand stages anyone know where I can read the different stages. Thanx Carol

Sending you a HUGE HUG... you are handling a lot. For Meds... go RX.com. Any pharmacy will give you the prices using your insurance or using on RX.com alone. RX.com is amazing. I think my comment about coughing and breathing is on this site somewhere; however I tried Organic Lung Cleanse (Mullein Leaf) - Cleanse and Detox. Big Pharma will poo poo anything that is non pharmaceutical. That being said after RSV/Pneumonia and diagnosed with COPD... this little bottle purchased on AMAZON for practically nothing, stopped my deep constant coughing within ONE eve...it eliminated a lot go my coughing up phlegm and mucus. Everyone is different, a doctors' opinion should be called for "hubby". God Bless

I have had COPD for five years. Can be scary esp. in public when incessant coughing episodes have occurred.
The first few years l was on Ventolin and it sufficed. As episodes started to cause SOB l was put on Trelegy. I found it really helpful in subsiding the symptoms and had no ill effects.. A few months ago when the humidity was sky high here in Ontario l was uncomfortable enough to go to the ER. I was given oxygen and then a script for and inhaler of Symbicort. So far at twice a day it's working well. I'm supposed to take it twice a day but have a bad habit of forgetting the second dose if l'm feeling good. There are a lot of effective meds out there fo COPD and good Respiratory Therapy. I'm sure if Trelegy doesn't relieve your difficulties there are others that will. Take care. You are not alone.

I tried Trelegy and it didn't work for me. The steroids kept me awake all night.
