I have had a 24/7 headache for 6 years and 3 months. I have tried every option the 2 neurologist’s I have seen have. Including an MRI. Acupuncture, physical therapy, Chiropractic, nothing helps. I have seen NDPH articles on the internet, these described my condition perfectly. The 2 doctors I’ve seen had never heard of it. Not very encouraging.

2 ReactionsWelcome to Mayo Clinic Connect, @jnharris. That is a very long time to have a non-stop headache. It sounds like nothing has worked so far, and I'm sorry to hear that.
Are you looking at seeing another headache specialist? What do you think will be your next move?

2 ReactionsRight. Have you had blood patches in your spine for a spinal leak? I've had that done 6x and 4 spinal blocks.

1 ReactionHaven’t had that.
You may have a spinal leak. Why didn't your neurologist suggest this? A leak would cause a constant headache with relief lying down.
I’ll bring it up tomorrow. Thanks! My headache is constant, up or lying.

2 ReactionsI have suffered with migraines for 51 years. My Grandmother had them, my mother, and brother. I had a large family to pass them on to and that is what I did.. all four of my children then they all grew-up got married and had their babies, 14 beautiful babies. The fourth oldest had his first migraine at 2 years old. He sat on the couch and starred. My daughter took him to the doctor and they said "he has focal migraines". At this point 8/14 have some version of migraines and I was 15 when mine started and 6 of the kids are under 15.
I have tried everything there is to take away my pain or keep it away. I have seen every kind of doctor, experimental machine and after all of that I set up for a week long evaluation by a team of doctors at Mayo, So I check in on Sunday night and get settled for my weeklong stay. I check in for my appt on Monday morning and do tests and paperwork until 2PM. I go to a different unit where I am called in to have my initial consult with the doctors and they tell me that it appears I have tried all the medications, and treatments and that in their opinion the current effective treatment (an opiate & antinausea injection) is the only thing at this time that is going to work for me. I left and thankfully the hotel let me cancel my room for the 5 days. I went home and 2 days later had a migraine; went in to the clinic, the Doctor came in to see me and told me that the day before there was a vote that NO opiates could be given in the any clinic setting.....so for the last 6 years I just have Tramadol which does very little and suffer with it....
