Blood Pressure Measurement

Posted by deedth64 @deedth64, Jul 15 6:31am

Question for the group. Both my GP and Cardiologist said that the BP numbers are the most important barometer for Aortic Aneurysm. I have numbers that I have to be below which is 130/80 my BP is consistently below that. The question I have is how often do you all take your BP every day, a few times a week a few time a month? Thanks in advance.

I have the same device, it also connects to the app on the phone and keeps all your measurements, you can export them and send them to your Dr if necessary. You can also record manually BPs taken with a different device, which is very useful when traveling.

It is normal for the first one to be higher especially if you were active right before sitting down and start taking them, by the time the second ones comes your body is more relaxed

Yep I love this monitor. The blue tooth feature is the best!

I'm an 81 yo Aussie, who has been struggling with my BP control for many years. I'm currently on 3 types of medication. 2 of which I take first thing in the morning, usually between 6am & 8am. This has my BP down to around 130/75 by 10am. By 2pm my bp starts to rise again to around 140/81. I then take a 1mg prazosin tablet, then another at around 8pm.
6 weeks ago, those figures were much higher, but I have since started a 16/8 fasting diet, which has helped me lose 5kg of weight. I also try to take a brisk 1 mile walk, twice a day. I'd like to walk more, but my lower back complains too much, and I need to sit down for awhile.
My main reason for needing to lose weight and lower my bp is that I currently have a 46mm AAA, which has stayed at that size for the past 12 months. (I've explained all that on the Aneurysm support group discussion pages).
I'm wondering what other people are doing to control their bp. Any advice would be appreciated.

Thank you deedth64.
In the past I had been a heavy drinker, but I have now reduced my alcohol intake to the occasional glass of shiraz with an evening meal when I go out for dinner with a friend.

Hi!!
"I check my BP daily to stay on top of it, especially with the Aortic Aneurysm risk. It helps me stay proactive about any changes. I’d say consistency is key in monitoring."
