Timing of Tymlos Injection-AM vs PM
I just started Tymlos this week. I really would prefer to inject at night, but read a study on Forteo (the other PTH analog for OP) that showed significantly better results among people who injected in the morning vs. those who injected in the evenings. Does anyone have any relevant experience or insight? I know the company doesn't suggest any particular time of day, only that it be consistent. Thanks!

It has been reported that Forteo is more effective when injected in the morning. We don’t know this about Tymlos. However, since it is a similar drug, and just in case, I take mine in the morning. I am fortunate in that I do not have side effects . I started at a fourth of a dose and gradually increased.

2 ReactionsI inject mine (full dose but I worked up to 8 clicks over a few weeks) in the morning, after my one cup of coffee. It makes my heart beat faster within about 30 minutes, for an hour or more, but I just keep busy during that time, doing chores and things to distract myself. I have a hard time sleeping anyway so to do it at night would not suit me, I would not be able to relax to try and sleep with the temporary faster heartbeat. I have been fortunate to have never felt dizziness or pain or anything like what I see some people reporting, and my scores on dexa and TBS are improving, my CTX and P1NP show it as well. My side effects are only some abdominal bruising and abdominal weight gain. At first I didn’t believe it about the weight but it has happened to me, too. I hate having to inject every day but the alternative is much worse. For reference I have had 4 vertebral compression fractures, so I’ll do this as long as it takes to improve my bone quality! None of this is what I planned on but it’s happened, so I have to deal with it. My first grandchild is due in two months so that is a huge incentive for me to get through this. Pick something like that, a goal, and you’ll be able to do it! And pray a lot, as well.

1 ReactionJennirdh, thanks for your feedback. I have started to do 2 clicks. I will do the same in regards to building up to the the full dose. I never planned this either. I thought I was doing everything right. Thought I would continue to have a strong body/bones. Guess it wasn't in the cards. I would rather not take medication, but Like you said, " the alternative is much worse." I currently have a compression fracture, a wedge fracture, and a burst fracture in my spine, at the T8 area. It happened only by doing a simple movement. The pain is awful. It is putting my life in a dark depressed place. How did you deal with yours? Can I ask you how old are your?
When I started, I was in the evening and attempted a full dose, after about 4 injections I had terrible chills, so stopped. Restarted again, trying 4 clicks, few days, 5 clicks...up to about 6 - still had issues. I then changed to morning started at 4 and stayed for 1 mo, then 5..1 mo. and now have been at 8 for about 7 months. I like the morning better - gets it over with. Also I don't notice the faster heartbeat and the headache as much in the morning as I keep moving. I've never had the dizziness, so the morning has been better for me.
