Tymlos side effects

Posted by tkdesign @tkdesign, Apr 16, 2025

Does anyone find Tymlos to cause nausea or stomach pain or gerd? I want to avoid any drugs that can worsen GI issues. Already have barretts esophagus and past GI surgery.
How often should calcium levels be checked when using it?

I've been on Tymlos for 15 months. No side effects, for me anyway. It's very individual.

Do you take it at night?

Yes, always at bedtime was what I was advised. If I remember correctly if there were any dizziness that could lead to a fall, it is best taken before lying down.

Hi, would you be willing to give me your age range. I am 85 and considering Tymlos. At my age I do not want to deal with unnecessary side effects. I feel so good otherwise, thamk you

It seems to be so different person to person. I would start at a very low dose if you try it...maybe 1 or 2 clicks. For me, and I am only 90-95lb, that was enough to cause significant side effects from day one. For other people, the full dose may not cause side effects. I'm only 53 and had these negative effects.

I'm probably a bad example for this forum. I'm 66, male, very fit, 175 pounds. I've been taking the max dose of Tymlos for 15 months. I totally understand how someone older and/or smaller may have side effects.

The method of "titrating", where you start with a couple of clicks of the Tymlos pen, has been discussed a lot on this board. Some people can slowly (weeks) get up to a full dose. Others find they can't get beyond 5-6 clicks without serious side effects. It's very individual. The only way to know is to try.

One good thing is that if you have a bad reaction, it will subside. Itis short-term.

Thank you, I appreciate the information. I am doing fairly well, but I have very little midriff, upper body dropping, so I must start something. Tymlos seems to be my only option now.

I have never had any stomach issues and started tylmos with little concern for digestive discomfort. I read that TYmlos does not cause GERD but the side effects listed as common, do include stomach pain. Unfortantely I began to expereince upper stomach pain six months after starting tymlos; this was accompanied with excessive burping and feeling that I was 'full' after eating just a few bites. Food would sit in my upper stomach. I had no intestinal gas. I spoke to the tymlos pharmacist who concurred that they receive quite a few comments about upper staomch pain but they did not have any suggestions to help.
Allopathic doctors could not help me - I did not have an ulcer and did not have GERD.
After much research, and seeking naturapathic help, I learned that there are parathyroid receptors all throughout body and indeed the pancreatic islets are full of PTH receptors. Pancreatic enzymes are essential to digest foods. My symptoms echoed pancreatic insufficinecy. Voila.... I started taking pancreatic enzymes with meals and all my sympotoms subsided. It was a simple inexpensive solution but took a long time to figure out. We are each different and will have different side effects. The key is to figure out how to manage them. Sending postive energy and healing light to bring you the best of health. Stay positve and engaged. We can help each other along the way....

@summera1 I used NOW brand Digest Ultimate - full spectrum digestive enzyme. I tried other brands; full porcine enzymes ( expensive too) but didn't get as favorable result.
Now that said, I was cleared for both ulcer and gerd. So make sure you resist the temptation to self medicat without having a clear idea of what you are dealing with - or what you are not dealing with.

The dosage for the NOW ultimate is 1 cap before each meal. I started with just morning and evning meal and ended up needing only 1 cap at lunch - or before my heaviest meal.
It took only a few weeks to mitigate all symptoms. What a relief. Sending postive energy and healing.
