Tymlos side effects

Posted by tkdesign @tkdesign, Apr 16 9:00pm

Does anyone find Tymlos to cause nausea or stomach pain or gerd? I want to avoid any drugs that can worsen GI issues. Already have barretts esophagus and past GI surgery.
How often should calcium levels be checked when using it?

I've been on Tymlos for 15 months. No side effects, for me anyway. It's very individual.

Do you take it at night?

Yes, always at bedtime was what I was advised. If I remember correctly if there were any dizziness that could lead to a fall, it is best taken before lying down.

Hi, would you be willing to give me your age range. I am 85 and considering Tymlos. At my age I do not want to deal with unnecessary side effects. I feel so good otherwise, thamk you

It seems to be so different person to person. I would start at a very low dose if you try it...maybe 1 or 2 clicks. For me, and I am only 90-95lb, that was enough to cause significant side effects from day one. For other people, the full dose may not cause side effects. I'm only 53 and had these negative effects.

Thank you, I appreciate your response. I am 139 lbs today. Age and weight are concerning.

I'm probably a bad example for this forum. I'm 66, male, very fit, 175 pounds. I've been taking the max dose of Tymlos for 15 months. I totally understand how someone older and/or smaller may have side effects.

The method of "titrating", where you start with a couple of clicks of the Tymlos pen, has been discussed a lot on this board. Some people can slowly (weeks) get up to a full dose. Others find they can't get beyond 5-6 clicks without serious side effects. It's very individual. The only way to know is to try.

One good thing is that if you have a bad reaction, it will subside. Itis short-term.

Thank you, I appreciate the information. I am doing fairly well, but I have very little midriff, upper body dropping, so I must start something. Tymlos seems to be my only option now.
