AeroEclipse XL

I forgot to put the cup in breath actuated mode when soaking.
Does anyone else have Ombra?
I don't really like it and should have done more research before ordering.
I prefer the one that I picked up at medical supply store.
This Ombra is so noisy and has ended up on the floor a couple times.
Have to keep readjusting on table because of all vibration.
Has anyone else forgot to turn to breath actuated mode when soaking?
I don't like the short mouthpiece.
Doesn't make sense.
I'm ready to just drop off at Goodwill.

Thanks. I use a placemat.
I was on such a rant about the Ombra I forgot to ask my question.
That's twice while soaking I didn't turn to the breath actuated mode.
I'm hoping it's still okay to use.
How many compressors do you have?
I like the one I received from medical supply store.
Very compact and quiet.
Ombra heavy and noisy.

National Jewish Health always says the best airway clearance device is the one you’re actually willing to use. If the Ombra is too loud and that causes you to skip treatments, then like you said—it might be better to use a quieter, less powerful device.

Several years ago, I was working on a project and had the chance to speak with Cheryl Torres, the Respiratory Therapy Supervisor at NJH. I asked her why they recommend the Ombra. She said it’s because it’s the most powerful option and the closest match to what they use in clinic. I assume that has to do with the strength and output of the compressor.

When I travel, I switch to a quieter, lightweight compressor—it’s not as powerful, but it gets me through. I always return to the Ombra at home because I know it gives me the most effective treatment.

If you decide to keep using the Ombra but are bothered by the noise, it might help to mix it up a bit—alternate devices when needed. Also, as others have suggested, you could try placing a thicker rubber pad underneath to quiet the sound. And definitely consider reaching out to customer service if the noise seems excessive—they might have troubleshooting tips or solutions.
Warm regards,
Linda Esposito

If you boil your nebulizer, there is no reason to also use the baby bottle sterilizer. One or the other is plenty!

I always like to point out to people I resent MAC and/or Bronchiectasis taking one more precious minute of my time or creating one more complication in my life than is absolutely necessary. That is why I have stubbornly stuck to boiling in a saucepan for my equipment for the past 7+ years - no gadgets, no parts, no breakdowns, no storage - just equipment I already own and have a spot for in the cupboard.

I know aerobika shouldn't touch bottom of saucepan, but what about sides.
So disappointed to learn that my hydrogen peroxide soak was useless for ntm.
I think I've been doing for a year.

My silicone pad in the bottom is a little too big, so it "cups" a little and keeps things from touching. But if you are a nerd 🤓 like me, you might just use an infrared thermometer to check temps - the sides of my saucepan are about 50F cooler than the bottom.

The Ombra is compressor.
AeroEclipse XL the nebulizer cup.
Ombra is very noisy and lots of vibration.
The cup you have to have on a certain mode when soaking.

I have the idrive which I got through insurance which I find to be both loud and slow. If you want to continue to try using the Ombra are you using AirPods or headphones? You can get inexpensive noise cancelling ones online. I listen to music or podcasts as a distraction when nebulizing or wearing the vest. Helps cut down on the noise considerably and makes the time go by faster. As I have tinnitus from the meds the earphones help drown out the motor sound as well.

Thank you.
I'm going to try that and also the extra padding underneath.
I just hope I didn't ruin it by not changing the mode while soaking.
So many things to remember in those instruction books.
I've been sterilizing my Aerobikas in hydrogen peroxide for about a year.
Just found out on here that peroxide does work for ntm even though listed as one of the ways to sterilize in the instruction booklet.

Excuse me.
I meant peroxide doesn't work.

So glad to know boiling in the saucepan is all it takes...that is my go to piece of equipment. Trying to keep it simple.

The Aerobika melted?
I was wondering about that happening.
Do we put Aerobika in before the water boils or after the water boils.
I don't sterilize my nebulizer cups.
Soak them in hot soapy water then in vinegar every couple weeks.
