I put mine in a metal steamer basket that sits in the saucepan fully covered in the water.

My silicone pad in the bottom is a little too big, so it "cups" a little and keeps things from touching. But if you are a nerd 🤓 like me, you might just use an infrared thermometer to check temps - the sides of my saucepan are about 50F cooler than the bottom.
