I was diagnosed with Sjorgrens Syndrome many years ago (2008). They had prescribed Restasis Eye Drops twice a day to help your eyes produce fluid and Pilocarpine to help with dry mouth. I'm still on the same scripts. I can't say they work great but my Sjorgrens is related to Rheumatoid Arthritis and seems to come and go. The Pilocarpine was unpleasant for me. After taking it I would get the sweats and be very cold. I'm not sure this info. will help anybody but send my best wishes to all for the battles we fight daily.🌷
My Othamologist has put plugs in the corners of my my eyes-both upper and lower lids. They have really helped my dry eyes. I have the non permanent ones as he said the permanent ones can get infected. I have had them in for 10 years and have had no problems. One fell out recently but he just popped another back in.
I still use restasis and systane drops. But mainly at night. I hope this helps. Take care everyone.
I have been using cyclosporine(generic restasis) and Miebo for several months. Originally was on just cyclosporine.
My doctor told me about vevye - My insurance would provide a one month supply for $76.
However my doctor told me there is a company (Philrx) that I could get it through for $59 a month and
if approved for 3 months it would be $165. I have been trying to get this for almost a week with many calls to Philrx. When it seems it has been approved (they have my $165 pending on my credit cards since May 16)there is another hoop to jump through. Hopefully today - (after over half an hour on the phone with one person who said I needed to give them some info, which I didn't have on hand - and then another few minutes with someone else who I provided the information to) - will have done the trick. We shall see. The vevye is a combination of cyclosporine and miebo. I will use it for 3 months (IF I ever get it!!) and see if there is any change. If not, I would probably go back to using the 2 drops separately - due to cost. Fortunately, my eyes rarely bother me.
Have any of you used vevye?
I take orally every day sea buckthorn oil gel caps and a fish oil supplement and they help tremendously.
I also use Systane ultra hydration PF eye drops. All the prescription eye drops didn’t work. I also do warm compresses
on my eyes twice per day. Systane eye ointment is good to use prior to bedtime and also if your having extreme irritation in your dry eyes. My dry eyes developed after having multi focal lens replacement. I didn’t have cataracts I just wanted to see without my glasses. Now because of the severe dry eyes my far vision is affected and I avoid driving interstate because I can’t see the signs until I’m right up on them and the varying light from outside affects the clarity of my vision. I see we’ll close up and indoors with suttle lighting. I wasn’t told all this ant the consultation because it’s a money making business and I spent 10,700 out of pocket for these lenses. I now also can’t drive at night because the lights on the cars are astronomically glaring and reach out 10feet in circles and I can’t see due to the almost blinding glares;so now I don’t drive at night. I should have stuck with my glasses or just got the close vision lenses and use glasses to drive, but then again the dry eyes from the lens implants may still have caused a dry eye issue. I’m 65 and had this done at age 61.
