I have cirrhosis also that comes with enlarged spleen enlarged liver, portal hypertension which can cause varices which is enlarged blood vessels due to pressure from the portal vein. I had to have bands put around these blood vessels so they don't tear and bleed. Acistes also comes with liver disease that causes the swollen belly it's fluid from the liver. You need to have that drained. And yes there's pain all the time I also have gallstones now a new thing has raised as if that isn't enough. Heart problems! Due to too much pressure in the arteries also caused by the portal hypertension. It's starting to get scary . I wish there was a way to reverse this but unfortunately not. Only a new liver will solve this. My doctor has yet to put send me for a workup so I can get on the list but I believe it's about time to do that. All the best you all I hope this is some info you can use.
Hi @stephaniescomment
I see you are a new member of Connect. Welcome! It sounds like you are managing a lot of issues with your portal hypertension and some in common with @jlf2 . How long have you been dealing with this, and do all your symptoms act up at the same time?
I have found out that all my problems including my liver , portal hypertension, gallbladder and kidney and pancreatic problems are all related to Heart failure, they diagnosed me last week and I done some research on it. All theses problems have happened within the last 2 years
My heart is only functioning @ 35 % and the prognosis is not good. I’m now wearing a life vest a ACD till they decide what they are going to do. I hope you get to feeling better soon and wish you well thank you for your response ❤️❤️🌸
I am sorry @jlf2.
I imagine you are overwhelmed processing all of this.
How are you feeling?
Hi! I've was told I have cirrhosis 1 and a half years ago and actually it hasn't always been like this. It started with acistes(fluid in my belly). That's what alerted me that something was wrong. But it's just gradually gotten to this point. But a lot of symptoms along the way. Vomiting a gallon size bag of blood from a bleed inside, drawing fluid every couple months, then it got better for a little while once I was medicated with lasix to keep the fluid down and frequently getting endoscopy looking for bleeding. But now another bout with these new symptoms with my heart a sign that it's getting worse. So it's more like a up and down rollercoaster. With every new symptom until the Drs figure how treat it. Then it's better till the next symptom. It hasn't all been terrible even though it sounds bad . God finds us a way to deal with things we never thought we could. Make sure you find the best doctor around. And ask a lot of questions. Even if they don't like it. Who's health is it anyway. All the best to ya!
You are dealing with a lot and are inspiring in how you are handling it. It comforts me to hear God is providing the strength you need to walk this path. And now you’ve found Connect.

Ah, @jlf2 I just looked at your profile and see a job history of caring for others. You have been through so much, no doubt have learned so much about things you never ever dreamed you’d want to/have to. Have you found anything about your previous work that is helping you now? Stay strong!
Do you mind sharing more about your fear with your financial situation? Are you able to get the care you need?
