Started Repatha - Side Effects
I had terrible side effects with statins (any statin, any dosage). For about 30 years my doctors have pushed statins and
I have resisted. Finally I agreed to Repatha. The first week I had zero side effects. With my second dose, 2 weeks in, i woke up and my joints and muscles hurt a LOT.
1. Does this side effect go away?
2. What do you know about the recent information that the Repatha trials underreporting deaths from cardiac events while taking Repatha.

Thank you for this comment. When I go back and look at my numbers, this seems to be true.
One study: In one study, when LDL was lowered to a greater degree, the risk associated with Lp(a) decreased.
Very informative. Thanks
What dosage do you take?
I am taking 1/2 of the recommended dose. I started there because I am so sensitive to drugs.
5/9/23
LDL 234.HDL. 61 LPa 224.4
3/24/25
LDL 184. HDL 84 LPa 168
Someone on here suggested that my LPa went down because my LDL went down and that that is the only way to lower LPa. I don’t disagree and found that to be very interesting. Regardless, it all came down without statins or Repatha which I cannot take. I am careful with my lifestyle factors, too.
I've been on Repatha about two years with no side effects and my LDL plunged. I'm rather lucky in that I have almost no side effects with any drug except, believe it or not, Aspirin. Aspirin gives me terrible GERD/heartburn. It's a very common side effect that's well known. I told my doc about it and he said to stop taking it. I did and feel much better in that area. I hope if any of you are taking Aspirin and getting GERD, you will heed this advice. Good luck everyone.
You are certainly blessed to be able to take Repatha without side effects. I don’t know why some people have no side effects and others become virtually disabled. I tend to have side effects with drugs and my statin and Repatha side effects were so severe that I was becoming extremely painful and bedbound from a very active healthy life. I wish I could take these drugs. My life would be so much easier if I could, but I can’t. So, I am constantly looking, studying, reaching out, altering my life and doing everything I can to live a healthy active life.
That is wonderful. Is your cardiologist on board with that? I don’t have side effects with most medications, but cholesterol drugs have been awful. My numbers are not as high as yours were but they want them down.
Very interesting. Repatha made a significant difference in my numbers, but I had such significant side effects, I was told to get off the drug. I’m scheduled to go see a lipids specialist in the future, and wondering if they might try me on a lesser dose. Please keep posting, really appreciate hearing about your Repatha experiences.
I do have significant GERD even with the safety coated, low dose aspirin. I’m going off aspirin for a while to see if it improves!!! Thanks!!
I had the same problem. My internist said there is no evidence that taking aspirin helps and took me off.
Debated: Using aspirin to prevent a first heart attack or stroke in people who have not experienced these events is more controversial.
