Medicare Coverage for ascending aortic replacement at Mayo

Posted by frisco07 @frisco07, Mar 26 9:12pm

My husband is 69 and will be having surgery on 4/11/2025 at Mayo in Rochester, MN. Does anyone have any experience with Medicare coverage for this type of surgery (ascending aortic replacement)? He has Medicare and a supplemental policy. Any feedback would be appreciated. (I have been waiting for an estimate from Mayo, but so far have not seen one...maybe they don't provide estimates for surgery like they do various tests??? I have not called yet, thought I would ask this group since I was catching up on the posts tonight.) Thanks

I went to Mayo in Fl. and had a heart CT Scan with contrast. I was very alarmed because at home they had read my ECHO of my AAA as 4.9 and 5 is very near needing surgery. Needless to say I was very anxious. After my CT the reading was 4.5 unchanged from 2011 when they had discovered it !!!! What a joyous relief that was and again the importance of CT scan readings versus Echo readings. I am at peace again!
