Anyone taking Ozempic post Bariatric Surgery?
Anyone taking Ozempic post Bariatric Surgery. I started 8/11/23. Dosage 0.25 mg. 3.5 years post Sleeve and have been stuck in the 230s for a couple years. What side effects or opinions do you have?

Any luck yet?
I have not had the Roux N Y done yet. I am reading here that you have taken Victoza. I was on that for years taking it daily. I am no longer taking it, and I am using the Monjouro, but I ended up gaining weight after I started taking it. I am very disappointed. I do have my 6 month checkup coming up with my regular physician and will be asking about it. I am hoping I won't need it after the surgery.

1 ReactionAs a diabetic for the last 20 years, my blood sugars are at 6.4 which is acceptable for a diabetic. I’m thrilled at 6.4. Why would he put you on it, if you were 5.4? I’ve was put on Ozempic 1-1/2 years ago because I couldn’t tolerate Metformin anymore. Initially I dropped 25 pounds, but, my weight hasn’t budged since then. I’m happy with it though.
Needed to drop another 20-25 lbs and address albuminuria.
I’ve been on Ozempic for almost 2 years to treat my Diabetes. As far as insurance goes, it’s still pretty hefty for Ozempic, but, I guess it would be a little more affordable. Also, being on Ozempic for a diabetic is a life long commitment.
I had that procedure and eventually gained weight. On Ozempic 1mg- this where you start losing lots of weight- and am sorry these drugs weren’t available before I had my surgery. Have lost 50lbs since late Aug 2023. Because I don’t have diabetes they took me off Ozempic and on Wegovy where I gained weight. I’m back n Izemic and losing again. 10lbs to go. I’m paying a lot for it since my insurance won’t pay for it. I don’t care!!!

1 ReactionI didn’t regain my weight that I had lost from Bypass Surgery, however I have Type 2 Diabetes. I started Ozempic before everyone jumped on the weight loss band. I will be taking it for the rest of my life for my Diabetes. I understand that if you take Wegovy, it’s also a lifetime commitment.
I had a vertical gastric sleeve surgery in 2016. I've been dealing with GERD since 6 months after my surgery and now a new surgeon wants to convert me to a RnY to fix that issue and fix a hiatal hernia while she's in there. So far, I'm not too keen on the idea of a conversion surgery, though. How did the surgery itself go for you? How was the recovery compared to the sleeve? Thank you.
Hi @worstearsurgeryever ,
That is excellent question about RNY after sleeve surgery. I did quick scan of Bariatric group and did not see any specific discussions on topic. Beside @cntrlcoastgirl , there may be others who have had the two surgeries. Cntrlcoastgirl has not been active for a year now, but hope she sees your question.
Can I suggest that you might want to create a new discussion in Bariatric group asking that question. Something similar to "Anyone have RNY surgery years after sleeve surgery?"
Has anyone had vision and or brain pressure issues on weight loss meds? New to this site so any suggestions or suggestions would be appreciated and thank you.
