Can I safely stop Eliquis and use Baby Asprin instead?

Posted by gmakat24 @gmakat24, 7 hours ago

I have been on Eliquis for over 2 years following a blood clot in my leg. My PCP says I need to stay on it for the rest of my life.
I had venous ablation to resolve vein issues. I also tested for the blood clotting gene and do not have it.
I'm fatigued and weak since on Eliquis. Is is safe to stop taking Eliquis and instead opt for baby asprin?

Unfortunately, virtually no one who is likely to respond here can answer your question. We are not qualified. But, your question has merit. The thing is, aspirin and DOACs like Eliquis and Xarelto work on different aspects of the clotting mechanisms. They may complement each other, but they don't 'replace' or substitute for one another because of their different properties.
As you must realize, this is something to put before your physician. He/she might listen to your logic, and hopefully understand your unsettling symptoms with apixaban.

Are you certain it’s the Eliquis? My dad takes it twice a day. He’s so weak and fatigued. He takes it due to his heart condition.
