Has anyone used Trelegy?

Posted by guinivere @guinivere, Oct 24, 2024

I have been on Advair HFA for a long time, over 10 years. My COPD per tests today is stable, but I have wondered if I should switch to something different. I did not know the doctor I saw today but I had had a PFT test, shared my thoughts about being so long on Advair & she right off the bat suggested Trelogy. A once a day discus inhaler, bye bye to Advair & Incruse! Now that I have switched, I am anxious, primarily because I didn't get to discuss this with her. OR my doctor! I am going to try to contact him tomorrow but meanwhile would like to hear from anyone re Trelogy &/or Advair.

I started on a Dulara inhaler. I was shortly moved in to Trelegy Ellipta 200. I was unable to detect the difference . You are probably the best judge of the comparison you speak of. Try the Trelegy for a bit and see how you react to it. It is a tier 3 drug on my Advantage plan. I am having to change plans for 2025. My plan has set the copay on it at 25% for 2025. My cost would be over 200$ a month. Watch your benefit position if you are on this drug . I wish you love and light , Crys

Contact the Trelegy drug company. They had a program available for help in paying for the inhaler after you meet certain criteria. I qualified for 3 months of Trelegy at no expense to me. Quite a savings!

I've been on Trelegy for 2 years. I think it works as well as any of them. It is expensive though. Are you all aware of a program called Patient Advocate Foundation CoPay Relief Program? They have opened a fund for COPD. Google it to see if you qualify. It helps!

For me, it’s on my formulary so 90 day supply has a copay of like $75 and it’s one inhaler instead of 3 separate ones, each with its own copay.

Trelegy was my very first inhaler and it worked beautifully! I loved it! But turns out it had a rare side effect I couldn't tolerate.

Then my insurance changed and it wasn't covered at ALL.

Next, I was put on generic Breo. It was okay. Then my insurance changed again and even the generic wasn't covered. The insurance 'gave me a courtesy' of one month to the tune of upwards from $250. Some 'courtesy'.

I'm now just starting Advair. So far, I am not impressed.

I highly recommend Trelegy if you can afford it.

If you’re on Advair you are missing Spiriva or a long acting muscarinic agonist LAMA. ask your md about having that added to advair to get all 3 meds.

I have been using Trelegy for over three years. It seems to help me more than anything else I’ve tried. The “rescue” inhalers didn’t seem to help at all.
I’m 79 years old, have late stage COPD, had the Zrphyr valve procedure done twice, in 2022 & 2023, with six valves in right lung & seven in left lung. I experienced no improvement, by 45% of patients do not.
My last pft1 was 34%. I try to stay active &, while using a cylinder providing 4 liters/minute, I try to walk a mile once a week.
When sitting still reading, etc., I’m able to breathe without supplemental oxygen, but any exertion at all requires 3-4 liters/minute.
I’m on the 100 mcg Trelegy; there is a 200mcg available, but my pulmonologist told me that it is as for Athena patients only.

I am 83 with COPD and I was on trelegy for a few months but the third ingredient for the improvement caused violent coughing, and I had to stop. Breztri now and beginning the third year and everything is much better for me.

The third ingredient in trilogy caused a violent coughing reaction from me and I couldn’t use it anymore so now I use breztri and I am very satisfied with the results starting the third year now. If you qualify financially, then AstraZeneca will help you with cost. They are helping me afford it. Ask your doctor about it and you can call AstraZeneca directly and they will help you contact the right people for help
