There are so many opinions out there on the web about which is the best supplement to help prevent BPH/prostate cancer. What are the key ingredients to look for? Thank you

I am interested in taking a supplement with Saw Palmetto in it and there are several. I also have BPH. I am 75 years old and pretty active. I am also on a blood thinner (Eliquis 5mg twice a day) because I have Factor V Leiden which is a clotting disorder which caused DVTs and Pulmonary Embolism. My research indicates that I should not take Saw Palmetto because it causes blood thinning. Maybe some doctor will read this and have an answer. If Saw Palmetto is a blood thinner why can't I take have the dosage of Eliquis along with Saw Palmetto and still have thin blood and hopefully help my BPH. I have tried Tamsulosin and that did nothing for me. Apparently that does not react with Eliquis. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Hello @brucekfelder0624, I combined your discussion on BPH supplements with an existing discussion focused on a similar topic:

"What are the best supplements to help prevent BPH/prostate cancer?"

I did this so you could read the many experiences shared by members with supplements and BPH. @bcgallant, @rhpabp1, @ndclayt41 and @seniormed are a few members who shared their supplement experiences.

@brucekfelder0624, are there any that you have considered already?

I'm 81, had BPH for 20 years. Walnuts worked as well as any prescription drug I took.

Dear Members,
As per my first posting at the end of February 2025, I do take over 30 herbs daily aimed at trying to keep my condition stable since diagnosis in the summer of 2021. I am under Active Surveillance and age over 79. The herbs are said to be helpful in acting against proliferation of cancer cells. For each one chosen, I found scientific studies recommending them.
If any members are interested, I can post up a list of the ones I favour and have purchased.
Regards,

I have been using Ultra Prostate supplement from Life Extension for several years now and have also recommended it to numerous other friends who have found it to be highly effective for BPH. This is after having tried many others but none had the effect this product did. I highly recommend it. They will also ship it if you so desire.
