Has anyone ever been on Duloxetine (Cymbalta) for nerve pain?

Has anyone ever been on Duloxetine (Cymbalta) for nerve pain? I've had 2 doctors push this on me. I know that the side effects can be terrible and getting off of it difficult as it requires titration. One time I remember taking one pill, and not liking the way it made me feel, so not taking any more, and still feeling the "weirdness" from it 2-3 days later. and that was only 30 mg Please pass along any experience or advice from this medication?

I share your concern. I have the bottle of meds in my cabinet. I’m preparing to start it. Dreading it….but I have to try it, before my insurance will cover Lyrica.
And, Cymbalta may actually serve me better. Idk.

I’m ambivalent. I’ve read so much about it. Different people have different experiences. What I know is that my intermittent burning is excruciating and I can’t tolerate it long term. I’m scared and looking for answers, since my only diagnosis right now is Vitamin B12 deficiency.

Klonapin does help, but that’s a short term thing. If my burning continues, I’ll need something daily. I wish there was something to take on as as need basis, that’s not a Benzo, since I feel great on days there isn’t burning.

When do you think you’ll start and what symptoms did you have trouble with?

I realize I am very late to the party. Have you heard of CRPS? If your burning is located in one+ limbs and you have had an injury or surgery in the same area before the burning began, check out CRPS, Complex Regional Pain Syndrome. At the very least, you check it off; at the very most, you may have joined us “Zebras.”

Hey there. I’m glad to report that my burning stopped! And, the paresthesia in my feet has greatly reduced. I still encounter some intermittent nighttime awakening with hand numbness, but hope that will eventually stop too. I’m still not clear what caused it. I am glad I didn’t need the meds after all.

I was prescribed Cymbalta for Fibromyalgia. Was reluctant to its side effects and interactions with meds, so did not take it

Hello. I see this is an old post but since there are some recent replies, I noticed it. I’ve been taking Duloxetine for my neuropathy. 1 pill 2x/day (morning and afternoon). I believe it’s helping as I notice more foot discomfort if I take it late.

I don’t have side effects that I’m aware of. I was previously on Sertraline (Zoloft) for many years for neurocardiogenic syncope, it helps block the signal to my brain that makes me feel faint when driving or standing too long. For me, Duloxetine replaced Sertraline in helping with this issue. I’m thankful for these multi purpose drugs.

Hi, everybody. I'm Judy, I have fiber myalgia. I've been taking subalta for about it 12 years now. And even the people at work notice the difference in me, my mood was better. It didn't take the pain away, but it eased the pain to where I can enjoy. You know, I was able to work, and I can enjoy talking to people without cringe, you can pain all the time. I guess I light my mood and just just made me feel better. I'll take anything that makes me feel better. I haven't been able to move for the past 36 hours. It hurts so bad, just even breathe on me.
Painting when I'm holding coast of 1110 sections of it. If one of my best friends didn't move in with me to help me. I don't know what I would have done. The pain is so excruciating. Sometimes I just want to jump off the top of the building. It would probably hurt less. Good luck to everybody, try this about it. It really did make me feel better right now. Nothing makes me feel better, but yeah. It's been a rough year for me. Anyways, hi, thanks for letting me post.
Good luck to everybody.Did you just pay

I had a bad reaction to Cymbalta. I have Fibromyalgia myself for around 35 years now. I take different things to help deal with it. Nothing stops the pain unfortunately, it just eases it.. I'm sorry you have it!!!

What does your nerve pain feel like ? I have twitching in my left toes my the hamstrings 8 and my caps twitch and. Has anyone had something like that? I don't know what to do I've had different opinions some say to do more surgery some say another epidural that didn't help the first time. I'd be interested in people who have similar pain to what I have

I have been taking Duloxetine for about 5 years for neuropathy in my toes (60 mg once a day). It did take away the electric shocks I was feeling and definitely helped my fibromyalgia, too. Side effects are dizziness. I also take 50 mg of pregablin twice a day to help the neuropathy pain. They work together with dizziness being the worse side effect. Also weight gain is common. I still have bad pain spikes, particularly at night, but my pain is not constant and really hasn't progressed beyond my toes. I used to live with ice packs before I got on these 2 meds. So they definitely help.

I just went off duloxetine there was a call back because it was causing cancer due to a ingredient in it. If you do decide to take it just want you to know we it is very hard to get off of. I am still suffering with many side effects not to mention the side effects you get while you are on it. I was on gabapentin also(3000) . Also have been on tramadol and now prevailing. All have side effects. Good luck !
