Can smart devices detect arrhythmia or other heart defects?

Posted by jcody90 @jcody90, 1 day ago

I am 34 years old (F) and have been feeling/ suspecting arrhythmia of my heart. I have weird spats out of the blue, even while I am at rest and it's been concerning me for about a year now. Is there a device that I could wear that could tell me what is going on before talk to my doctor about it? I am very open to suggestions. TIA!

You have several viable options, but the best would be a 12-lead ECG at a cardiac clinic or local ER, and then only when you're actually in an arrhythmia of some kind...which is sometimes tricky to get together.

There are Wellu and Oura rings, smart watches like Garmin, Samsung Galaxy (which I have worn for years now) and the Apple watches. There is also the Kardia Mobile device, a thin card that you can carry in a purse or shirt pocket, and you place two fingers on it, I think one from each hand, and let it read your rhythm. All do a reasonably good job.
