Strontium can have side effects and so you should make sure you don’t have any arterial sclerosis, and there is a slight uptick in blood clots so check with your doctor first. Also let me say that one DEXA scan may not be truthful either way. I had that problem! Also, you should know that not all DEXA tests are quality measurements. They need to be done on the same machine on the same calibrated equipment. There is also something called- TBS and it’s a contemporary test that’s done with software analysis that is highly predictive and accurate.
Also, please use information which has been “peer reviewed“ has been clinically, tested on a good number of people so there is scientific data to measure with any result. In other words use scholarly data as a basis for any kind of important decision-making when it comes to your body. Please see my post my subsequent post I post the scholarly research that includes the strontium. It seems to begood for some people and not good for others..

I can’t find my comment, but I had posted a skeptical reply to the Strontium. But someone posted a scholarly article that included it so it does seem that it’s not the medicine for people who have arterial sclerosis or heart disease and it works better on people that have a measurable extreme amount of osteoporosis, but you can read this for yourself It has many more clinical analysis on other things you may be trying. I don’t think you need to understand the whole thing you can skip around to the subjects that interest you: https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC6465575/

Thank you all for so many helpful and thoughtful comments. I suspect I will end up trying forteo or tymlos.

Hi cooper78,
Keep in mind that after Forteo you will have to use a bisphosphonate to maintain the gains.
Like you I had intolerances to bisphosphonates and Evista.
My endo wants to put me on Evenity now, but I’d have to follow with at least one year of Reclast! No way!
I’m a healthy 65 year old with no heart issues, I’ve decided to start HRT.
Every drug has risks, it’s a chance we have to take.
Best of luck.

I'm not sure why he insisted on the last for a year. What is her/his rationale? Does it have to do with other osteoporosis drugs you've already taken or___?

I had 6 pelvic fractures back in 2022 due to Prolia rebound, and am at a high risk of fracture. My endo is trying to get me to make more bone as quickly as possible. But in my opinion, not at the cost of the rest of my health! I’m hoping the HRT and everything else I do, resistance training, diet and supplements, will at least help me maintain my BMD.

Actually I think HRT is the best way to go, but being 78, my doc says it is too risky. I had used for many years though. I am considering now prolia.

I’ve been using forteo and am experiencing weight gain and belly fat. They are not listed in side effects but I noticed a lot of women are also complaining about weight gain. Who can we report this to

Thanks for this. I do have heart disease, so it's especially good for me to know. Will take a look at the link you posted.
Wishing you the best...
