Still no taste or smell?

Posted by denan210 @denan210, Feb 4 11:08pm

I don't know if anyone has asked this but I had covid 4years ago and to this day still can not taste or smell anything and the things that I can taste or smell are not the same as before covid. Is anyone else still having these problems?

What was debridement?

Same here with the daily rinses. I’ve been doing them since a month before the surgery and have continued after the surgery. I add some kind of prescription steroid and antibiotic. I don’t feel like it’s doing anything. My first debridement was the worst pain I’ve ever had

I don’t mean to sound ignorant, but what type of debridement are you speaking of? I’ve had no taste or smell since December of 2022 and it’s now February of 2025 and it’s still only sweet, salty, bitter, no flavors. What did you have debrided? I have had 7 Stellate Ganglion Block injections and it took my anxiety away or PTSD, whatever you want to call it. I was jittery and now I’m not. I tried the smell training kits and the only thing it gave me was a headache from trying to smell something I absolutely can’t! I am very interested in this debridement however. I’d like to hear more about it.

lol, I’m the ignorant one, I thought I was responding to someone on the sinus surgery board! 😂
No debridement for long covid, move along, don’t mind me.
Can I blame this on brain fog?

I replied to the wrong board- debridement is what they do after sinus surgery to clear away the crusting etc. sorry!

Yes. I am at 3 1/2 years now. Can do salty, spicy, sometimes sweet but no idea what I'm eating. Can smell a little but in bursts. Sometimes also food tastes weird like peach tastes like onion. Nothing so far has helped and doctors just tell me they don't know. Depressing and discouraging but not giving up. Praying and waiting. With God all is possible. Hang in there.

Yeah the lack of smell really sucks. I can taste ok (I guess) but I’m so smell-oriented. Ent said he couldn’t promise anything so that felt lovely.
Same experience with the sniff training kits. Could smell cinnamon and spearmint a little
Now I have covid again!

I will say that after bring on prednisone my smell stsrted coming back. Doc said that’s a good sign .

Interested in the stellate ganglion blocks— glad you had some success! The doc offered that but I was taking care of the sinuses and migraines first-

Haha, no worries! I thought maybe I had missed a new treatment for no taste or smell! Much luck to you! Well, you made me laugh and that’s a plus!

I’ve had 7 Stellate Ganglion Block injections. They have given me more of a salty, sweet or bitter taste on my tongue when I eat. I also noticed that it has taken away my PTSD or anxiety, if you will. I am not jittery any longer, which is great! Not sure if I will be having any more, but it did help somewhat. Good luck!
