Topiramate 50 Mg and Phentermine 15 Mg for weight loss
I had gastric bypass surgery in 2016.
Over time I regained the weight. Went to a gastric bypass doctor on referral by primary doctor.
He prescribed me Topiramate 50 Mg and Phentermine 15 Mg for weight loss management.
I am on the fence about taking these drugs even though he assured me it’s safe. Topiramate is a drug used to treat epilepsy and Phentermine is used to lessen appetite.
Has anyone in this group tried weight loss pills, if so which ones, were useful, and did you experience side effects.

❤️❤️❤️❤️ Thank you!
Just wanted to post that I finally hit 60 pound weight loss milestone! I had actually increased my calorie intake. So, this is amazing! I still have about 30 more to go, but I can’t imagine it. When I walk by a mirror out in a lobby in public, it sort of takes me off guard. Is that me? Lol
I simply must return to more strength training, though. I need to get more muscle.
👏👏👏👏 So proud of you! Thank you so very much for the update.
I needed the motivational boost. Hopefully I will be reporting my 10 lb goal loss this mouth.
We got this!🙌🙌
Thank you! I’ll be rooting for you! This is exciting! Please update when you can. 🫰🫰👍👍😊😊
I’m back to losing again. Now down 63 pounds. I think the suggestions the nutritionist gave were helpful. I cut out some of my morning fat. It was healthy fat, but my body was struggling to process it. I changed my breakfast and it helped. I feel encouraged to continue on my journey! I guess I won’t pursue and meds right now.
Hope things are well with everybody.
I don’t recommend adapex causes heart damage. Seriously I can’t believe it’s still being prescribed. I have heart damage from being on it. So does my twin sister. As soon as you get off you gain it all back.
My Pcp has used phentermine and it has been successful for me. I was limited in my choices because of my status as an ER positive PR positive breast cancer patient. Most of the weight loss drugs are hormone based and that is a big no for me. Phentermine, the old half of the drug known as Fen/Phen back in the day was safe. As described to me by my doctor and also on the paperwork with the medication things to look up for or jumpiness nervousness, etc. I experienced none of that. I have been able to lose 30 pounds over the course of 12 months. I’m going to begin another round of phentermine in February. My PCP said it doesn’t work for everyone, some people can’t tolerate the nervousness and jumping as they feel, so it is probably a pretty individual thing. It is also addictive to some degree, you have to sign ensure your drivers license and your limited as to how long and frequently you can take it during the calendar year. What has been hard for me is that after a three month course where I would typically lose around 15 pounds and I take a break if the break is too long, some of the weight creeps back on. but my Pcp told me is that for some people taking it one month on, one month off is within the standards of prescription of this medication and seems to be successful in maintaining lost weight. Hope that helps. I had truly tried everything else, not medicine, but exercise, tracking foods, etc. nothing was ever successful for me, but phentermine was.
Phentermine and Topiramate ignited my weight loss journey. Initially, I encountered a few side effects, but reducing the dosage solved the issue, allowing me to feel comfortable in my own skin.
I discovered that my body adapted to the medication, and its effects diminished over time. It's essential to remember that everyone's metabolic makeup is unique, and what works for one person may not work for another.
I no longer take the medication and haven't experienced weight gain, likely due to maintaining healthy eating habits.
Keeping a food and beverage journal I've learned that my favorite beverage beer leads to weight gain. 🥲
But....... I've found a solution drinking low-calorie, non-alcoholic beer in moderation lead to no weight gain and I am just happy with that. 🍻
At the end of the day it's all about nourishing the temple that houses our spirit and recognizing that individual experiences negative or positive should not dictate others' choices.
Happy New Year!
