Found Flurazepam
I have severe insomnia and took Flurazepam for over 35 years until it was discontinued. Nothing else has worked. After some research I talked with the new distributor and the new manufacturer, was given order numbers, contacted the Walgreens I use in Montgomery, AL, they found it in their system and ordered it. After picking up my doctor's paper prescription I filled the prescription on Monday, May 6, 2024 and started taking it that night. Now I'm slowly recovering from two years of only 3 or less hours of sleep a night. So there is hope, keep trying, it is out there on the market now! 🤟

The manufacturer said Walgreens stopped ordering Flurazepam but are working with them to start re-distribution. That's why they still show a $35 charge on Good RX. CVS doesn't order anymore either. If you can find it, it's in the $500 - $600 range for 30 days. I smell a rat here.
Found a pharmacy that says they could order it but it would cost $1400.
Wrote Rising Pharmaceuticals s as they were supposed to be a new distributor. They said did write back, immediately, to say production was still TBD.
Will write them all and see. Google gave me a list, I’ll keep trying. Nothing else has worked for me.
Frankly, $1400 might be worth it if it led to 3 months of good sleep…
I have unisom in my arsenal. It’s hit or miss with me.
That’s true of Midnite as well.
Melatonin has to be a very low dose 1-3 mg or it has the opposite effect. I also wonder if the sleep melt products that are sweet are part of the problem.
So I also have unisom in tablet form. Still hit or miss.
Nothing seems to work consistently perhaps because PTSD induced insomnia is very hard to combat as the vigilance is hard to turn off…
Yesterday I found an independent pharmacy that can order Flurazepam for $1400-1500. (That’s 10x more than I can afford…)
3 other pharmacies say it is listed as OOS in their systems…
raina726, just make sure you have the Unisom product with the active ingredient doxylamine succinate. Some Unisom contains a different ingredient. That's awful about the price of flurazepam!! That is unacceptable....someone needs to do something about this!!

I have been in contact with Rising since early in 2023. Their initial release date was June of 2023, but keeps getting pushed back. Parent company is in India and they've had some issues meeting FDA specifications. I'm hoping their latest release forecast of Q1 2025 holds. I don't know for a fact that Chartwell is massively overcharging, but they are the only supplier of Flurazepam as of now. Competition is always a good thing.
I contacted the FDA and I get a monthly list of medication approvals. Checking every month for Rising. In the meantime, I'm preparing to grind my teeth and shell out 600 bucks for the next 30 days. Still better than no sleep for who knows how many nights.
Well they ARE overcharging. 6 months ago it was $20 with GoodRx.
They haven’t answered my inquiry in their website.
At least Rising wrote right back to say they did not have a date for release yet.
I was getting the same price with Good Rx. Pretty steep increase from $20 to $600. Chartwell was very responsive when I was trying to find a pharmacy for my initial fill a year ago. No response at all since I've been asking about the increase.
Well, what would they say!?
We have no remedies here. It’s not against any law. I checked with the state attorney and the FDA.
Pharmaceutical companies don’t seem to have a conscience… or any reins.
The good news may be I’ve learned to live without it. It’s the only Rx I used to take. Meticulously avoiding taking it every day.
I will talk to my doc about PTSD meds, as there may be help there.
