Dr. Shrestha at Mayo Clinic Reviews

Posted by rphiller @rphiller, Jan 1 7:40pm

Good evening,

I'm scheduled to have surgery in the next month with Dr. Shrestha at Mayo Clinic. Does anyone have any experience with him that they can share?

Thanks!

I don't know if it's appropriate to say this here, but I can't imagine the stress a cardiac surgeon must experience. I know I want a surgeon, when/if I have to have one, who has all the confidence in the world. It takes a healthy ego to assume the responsibility they do.

Does anyone have any experience or knowledge about the care at the Chapel Hill Medical Center or the Duke Med. Center? How do they compare to Mayo and Cleveland?

@bigbon shared her husbands experience with Dr. Shrestha in a post in another discussion here - https://connect.mayoclinic.org/comment/1104791/ and may have more information to share with you.

Hi, would you share the name of this surgeon? I hope to never need it, but I live in St. Petersburg, Florida and I believe my insurance will only cover Florida surgeons and hospitals so this would be good to know for the future. Thanks so much!

Dr. Jack Haney (chair of cardiovascular surgery) did a root/valve replacement and ascending aorta graft following aneurysm repair on right coronary artery, complex fistula ligation involving right coronary artery, left anterior descending artery (LAD) and double bypass of the LAD. I was in surgery with him from 7:30 am until 10 PM due to the 4.7 ascending aorta aneurysm and 4.8 cm root disintegrating while he was finishing up. He had planned an 8 or surgery. I am convinced he is the best cardiovascular surgeon in the state of Florida. My surgery was on Sep 10th, 2024.
