It there any solution for constant tinnitis?

I have high pitched tones constantly though I have learned to ignore it mostly.

It can become louder at times, even loud enough to make me wince!

I have tinnitus constantly. Recently I realised when I pushed my bottom jaw forward the noise became increasingly louder, really loud. It makes me thing it’s something to do with the nerves and when I move my jaw it changes the pressure on the nerves??

@tykissy in my experience tinnitus is constant, but the volume of it fluctuates. I have been told it is caused by the brain but I also notice a correlation with ear pain and even congestion.

I was diagnosed with tinnitus over 50 years ago. It has never gone away and at times was very aggravating. While going to college and grad school, I noticed I could study and concentrate much better if I had some light classical music playing in the background. The music seemed to cover the ringing and provide just enough distraction that I could study. French horns, woodwinds, and piano instrumentation seem to work best for me. As I sit here writing this I am still listening to some soft classical music while reading. Thanks to mikepa and Julie for some info on research. I will look into this.

Hi, I wear a hearing aid in my left only and that is great for controlling the noise. I watch TV with the hearing aid in, it is paired to my TV ( or any device you have ) I find it good. It would work with any type of ear device. The classical music is a nice idea too. 🌻

My husbands tinnitus made him crazy....up all night....went to doctors who only handled nerves in the ears...etc...nothing help..forget the c coffee and aspirin, it will not take care of your problem...if it does, only temporarily. Years ago, WM SCHAFFNER from starwars was on TV and said he got a divorce over his tinnitus.....he finally found the UNIV of Maryland who helped him... My husband immediately called the University and got an appointment. At the time there were 2 doctors that worked together on it. After lots of testing, he was made 2 large ...maybe different now....white noise looking hearing aids. He wore them daily for 2 years...during waking hours. They retrained his brain to know that the noise was not threatening. It was a miracle for him. No drops,, no docs, no clinics helped...only these devices. He no longer needs them and is able to have a normal life. That was 20 years ago.....it works. I would think Mayo Clinic has the program too. Good luck!

Hi. Just joined because I just started having tinnitus. Comes and goes, but sometimes gets very annoying and even anxiety. I currently have hearing aids, more than moderate loss. Does that device work with hearing aids? Do you have more information on the devices, or maybe a link that’s has info on the device, Or to the University. Do know if there is a link on the University that is direct to their hearing center? Appreciate anything you can tell to find out about your husband’s device, experience.

tglawson, I have tinnitus in both ears with hearing loss. Hearings aids (although hard to adjust to for a while) have diminished my tinnitus about 90% and enhanced my hearing greatly.

I find that caffeine and too much sodium worsen the tinnitus.

Go to the hearing center where you got you purchased your hearing aids and see if they can adjust them for you. I have had to adjust mine about 3 times and I've been wearing them for a year now.

I wish you the best. CHRISTmas blessings & prayers.....
