I try to focus on my inner self and think I’m doing that, but I get distracted when things like my neck looks saggy. It doesn’t fit with the rest of my face and level of fitness. I feel that if a procedure can take off 5-8 years and make me more confident, why not? That kind of thing might not bother some people, but it just seems odd on me. I’ve always had a slender firm face, chin and neck, so I miss that.
@ollie2018 This is such a difficult and personal topic. It makes me think of the recent post on Mayo Connect by George about our society’s attitude to aging and to our older members.
People must do what they must do. I don’t want to judge their choices.
I like George am sad about huge societal pressure to spend money and effort on looking younger. It’s a huge industry.
Retiring early (or, as I like to see it, going on permanent vacation!) due to Stage 4 appendix cancer has removed any pressure I felt in the workplace. I hadn’t done anything but who knows what I might have felt I needed to do (beyond colouring my hair) to stay competitive 🤔
Personally I am so fortunate now to be happily embracing the changes brought by age and experience to my face and body. Leaning into it has been so powerful for me. The external pressure has gone. I do still colour my hair (eg I’d always wanted pink hair since I was at school and went for it on my retirement!), but that’s enough for me. Some may say I shouldn’t do that either.

You go girl! Fun going hair colors! I’m not ready for all grey, yet! I’m going to be 63. Will slowly transition! Lucky to still have my man of 40 years! I’m a nana and these are the best years of my life!!!! Being an impact on grandkids! Jude being in the present! Sharing stories about their parents. Best gift! Enjoy the Holidays!!!

It’s so hard today to push against societal pressure. We all want our children and grand children to be strong and to make their own choices free of pressure to conform - whether that’s choosing pink hair, or something more akin to structural renovation rather than superficial refurbishment!!
I actually think I’d be fine with a lower lift and botox on the top.
Everybody is different. I needed lower face.
What’s the healing like after neck work?
You look incredible. Which Dr Rousso did you use? There are a couple Plastic surgeons with that last name
Daniel Rousso, in Alabama
It’s what’s inside that counts! A beautiful heart and soul and smile conquer over appearance! Enjoy life!
