Fibromyalgia pain: Let's connect

Posted by clownscrytoo @clownscrytoo, Oct 22, 2016

Is there anyone here that suffers from fibro? I had the 'tender spot test' several years ago and I had 17 out of the 18. I try my hardest to get through the pain with my 4 hydrocodone/acetaminaphine pills a day, Tiger Balm rubbed into areas that are the worst, light exercises, and distracting myself with hobbies or chores, etc; but there are many occasions where none of that helps and I spend most of the day holding down the couch, getting up about 30-45 minutes after that, walking/standing around the house for 15-20 minutes, or sitting for about 15-30 min. I do not drive and my husband works 6 days a week, overtime almost every day, so I'm alone a lot. my wonderful husband is very supportive and I am very grateful for that, but my only other friends are online, out of state, and I will probably never even get to meet them. when extreme pain takes over, my depression takes over and it is so difficult to find hope. does anyone have tips for fibro, whether diet or over-the-counter meds (I've tried them all, I think), or anything, besides hobbies and such? I've tried every over-the-counter med, and the Tiger Balm does cover some of what the pain pill doesn't help, but I'm hoping one of our members might have some knowledge that could help. I'd really appreciate it.
hugz,

@lioness, Ask and ye shall receive! jk, but this article; http://time.com/5159879/is-an-anti-aging-pill-on-the-horizon/, discusses the development of a drug that would make our cells act and feel at least 20 years younger. I know that most people who have made it 70 or 80 years on this planet typically say they have no interest in living forever, but the caveat is usually spending that extra time in the physical condition they are currently in. If able to have a much higher quality of life, physically, I think many would be excited at that prospect. However, as a Christian, I believe that my "quality of life" will be beyond my most fantastic imaginings, that I am not sure I would change my answer.

@oregonggirl am so with you. Liked gman007's link to NAD. Bible says if we lived properly we could expect to live to 120. Not interested in lenghth of years, but like all of us, in quality of life, and being useful til God takes me home.79 yr old Husband losing his job next week, and we have to cash out of our mobile home. I just turned 70 and never dreamed we would be in this health condition of being caregivers for each other. Have much to post so will take remainder to "I just want to talk" group. Sending you hugs and encouragement. Dori

Virtuous,We all thought our retirement would be ok. We would have no health issues, plenty of money bla bla bla. Instead, I lost properties due to the recession. I am living on a budget. As hard as I worked for so many years, this is what I get. I have been trying to find an Independent Living situation and they start at 2200 a month. Good Lord, they must be filled with Rich People. I have too much in Savings to be able to get help. And, who wants to blow your savings and having NOTHING. That frightened me. I Love the Lord and I pray He comes for us soon. Be brave all you suffering people. My husband is gone 10 yrs ago. I am on my own. If I get sick I am my own caregiver. So be thankful for whatever we get.

You sure are lucky. I just got off the phone with the receptionist at the pain clinic. I was treated like I had asked for tons of pain killers. I did no such thing . She was so upiity and mean on the phone. I am going to be 76. I have yet to become a drug addict and I won't in the future. You better believe those Congressmen don't have to beg. They are delivered to their sweet hands. Its we little guys who are paying the price for the druggies.

Oh and by the way. She had to be about 15. What does a 15 or 16 year old child have to say to this seasoned Old Lady???

Well, so much for anything stronger than OTC's. Guess I need to find the stalwart side of me. Get more exercise to strengthen my muscles. Guess I did not look or sound pathetic enough. It matters not. Rather bummed, but it is what it is.

There is a miracle drug. It is called dying. May God take care of us until them. He knows our pain. He suffered much more than we are suffering. But, yes, please doc...help me.

At 77, I am not an abuser of my drugs! Not my fault some people chose to get 'high' or whatever. So now my pain increases since drugs are reduced.
